Coldturkey

A lot of Google Translate being used here i see ...

To the original poster: I learnt French from a young age, studied it, and married a Frenchman, so i would consider it one of the languages i am proficient in.

In order for you to grasp French, i would definitely suggest starting at the beginning to understand the language itself... don't try memorising "phrases"... they'll come in use, yes, but it won't enhance your understanding of the language... you need to learn the core concepts of the langauge. After these are fully understood, try picking up some audio books, befriending french speakers and conversing in french (maybe try some online french forums??), watching french films/tv....just keep trying even if you feel like you're totally crap... !!!! It'll improve with time and usage... and before you know it, you'll be speaking over a dozen languages like me
(not all perfectly might i add )

Good luck !
