So I can read French at a very minimal level and I would like to improve it. Any suggestions as to how you learned the language.

I learned from school - If you are interested try Roseta Stone
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

Online translators flaw/drawback:
---------------------
What i wanted to say:
I think using online translator or other services can be helpful, if one is serious about learning a language. I have heard good things about Rosetta Stone as well. I prefer a class or tutor.
What the above translated phrase actually reads, if reverse-translated:
I think that the usage the online translator or the other services can be serviables, if the one is serious of the erudition of a language. I heard good things of the Rock of Rosetta also. I prefer a class or a professor.
So, clearly there are limitations with online translators.
 "Rock of Rosetta"..my goodness!...
