Transport is cheap - buses 2 dirhams, taxi is resonably cheap aswell, I didn't find much difference in the cost for clothes shopping, quite expensive. Eating out is reasonably cheap.
Search the Travel and Tourism Forum for threads on Dubai, you'll find quite a lot of info.

I have a question which is very off-topic, but couldn't find a better place to ask.
If I was to buy an iPod from the Intl. Airport in Dubai, would it be duty-free? and would it be cheaper compared to buying from N. America? & England?

 taxi fair is cheap???
You got to be kidding, or you're a rich man.
The taxi fairs are the KAMAR TORS!!! But if you're coming for a visit, it should bother you much. But if you have an international driving lisence, you can rent a car, that would be cheaper than hiring a taxi.

I dont know about ipod waghaira. But once i checked the price of a Sony video camera, it was 200-300 dhs above the price in regular store in dubai.
Even the perfumes are more expensive there.

I agree, hiring car would be much cheaper than taxi ride. We were there for a short period of time so didn't really bother us. I just liked the way you can stick your hand-out for a taxi and they stop!

If you are going for a short term its fine. Otherwise rental living is very expensive, specially when you are going with family.
