Salam All....
Could anyone suggest a suitable hotel for two nights stay in Dubai during early February 2007. I am travelling to Pakistan with my family (wife and two daughters 4 and 6 yrs old) and will be taking a two night break in Dubai before catching the connecting flight to Pakistan. I cant seem to find a hotel offering suitable family accomodation. I am not fussed about any star ratings as long as the accomodations is reasonably priced, comfortable, not too far from the Airport or the main shopping centres.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated , especially from all you Pakistanis living in Dubai.....
Many thanks
...

try the san marco hotel in deira dubai, order online and the price will be less! we didnt eat the food though, eating outside is much better. there is a restaurant nearby with a pakistani flag and a dubai flag (forgot what it was called) eat from there if you like, plus there are many more restaurants to go to! Alhamdulilah.

That probably was Karachi Darbar. They have 16 outlets all over Dubai and I found their food to be quite good and very authentic.
This is a pic of the branch in Karama (where I have had lunch/dinner a couple of times):

I just moved to Dubai 6 months ago, but last year we had a similar scenario to yours as we were travelling from Austria to Lahore via Dubai in January 06 and had a stay of 13 hours.
We made use of the "CityStop" package from Marhaba Services. They provide you with a hotel room including pick and drop from the airport to the hotel and back plus a 96-hour visa for Dubai (if you need it). In our case that was very convenient, because my wife has a Pakistani passport and therefore required a visa to enter Dubai.
The charge in Jan. 06 was 90 USD per night and room, but they have increased it to 110 USD by now (see http://www.marhabaservices.com/marha...s/cityStop.asp)
I'd say get in touch with them.

It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it.We also don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.

We stayed at the Landmark Plaza near Nasser Square when we were in Dubai for 4 days in Dec 2004. The hotel was really good....and we got a great package too.....
As we were only there a short time, we arranged everything in advance except my hubby's VISA and regret it, because we were at the airport for around 6 hours!
The hotel does a good package and also do the airport pick up and drop off.....Oh and it's only a short drive to the airport
