asalam wa lakum people, I am going on holiday for a week to dubai in november. I wanted a few suggestions on essential things to do and see while I am there. Also I am considering booking with this hotel :Sofitel City Centre Hotel and Residence Dubai and wanted some feedback

if you goto www.tripadvisor.com you can search for hotels in dubia which have customer reviews. the site is quite thorough and you can find any hotel in dubai with lots of reviews and ratings

hi zama. some of the things to do in dubai:
1) Desert Safari - definitely not be missed
2) Dhow Cruise
3) Hot Air BAlloon

The hotels are all very safe, even if you check in a 2star one.
Remember:
Shops are closed on Fridays. They do open evening time though.
Shops are closed everyday from 1 p.m to 5 p.m, they open at around 10 a.m
Dollars are generally accepted in shops, you do not have to convert your money.
Do not miss the souqs...especially the gold ones!!
