My recomendation for restaurants is Chillies ... awesome place
... and dont forget to visit the Dubai internet city , they have two food courts and have some brilliant arabic /indian/chinese food in there
...Madeenat jumeirah is my favourite place to chill around for a few hours ... Photos come out brilliant in the Arabic castle backdrop.
..I almost forgot to mention, when you guys visit Dubai , dont just stick to the city, its a rip off price wise , so take a cab and go to Sharjah ... and trust me you will get to see amazing prices for clothes, jwellery, even food
In particular there is this discount center on dubai sharjah highway, and ansar mall is good , the gift center is good as well , Ramiz center is freaking brilliant for clothes ....

Hi Chicken Biryani (lol feels weird typing that) anyway, was hoping you can tell me, how far is sharja from bur dubai part? (as that is where we are staying) also any idea on how much on taxi fares?
Is ramiz centre and ansar mall both in sharjah?
Thanks for all your help!

CB!!!!!!!!!!! there are a lot of other better places to eat in Dubai! No need to go to the food courts in Internet City! I walk to them almost everyday lol ! Suggest something else!
Random Girl, Ansar Mall is on the border of sharjah and dubai on nahda street. Ramiz is in sharjah as well.

Yeah , well come on , tell us then what are the new places for food ...
I would still recommend people to go to DIC food court for the beautiful ambience ..
Oh and guys , I used to go to Asha's restaurant ( Asha Bhosle ) in the pyramids at the wafi city ... its hopelessly expensive , i hardly liked their food but the ambience was good ...

Random , as Aisha mentioned , Ansar mall is on wahda road , so is discount center and the gift center..
they are pretty much one after the other ... so you will find it pretty convenient.. I dunno what they charge for taxi these days , its been a few years since i left dubai ..
The places I am telling you are for those guys who are always looking for good prices ... and arent brand freaks !
Generally Sharjah is the shopping haven for those who want to spend money carefully ! I must warn you though once you get into Ramez , you will come out with a 100 bags ... they have some good stuff in there ..

ooo do any of you guys know which malls sell mac make up? I might actually find it duty free wont i? mmmm...lol
another question well query- do you think people will stare in dubai-if i was to wear knee length/3/4 shorts in and around these malls or should i opt for longer trousers?

Random, In dubai people dont stare that much , specially in the malls ... but when you go to sharjah , you will have staring issues .... but not so severe really since we do have philipinos and russians who wear knee length...
Sharjah is about 20 minutes drive in non traffic times ... but in traffic , from what my sister tells me it takes her about 1.5 hour to get to sharjah !! ( yup the traffic is horrid )
So good luck... When you go to sharjah , there is a shopping area behind Sharjah Cinema , ask anyone they will take you there ... and then there is a Gowair market as well , its bigger and better then the sharjah cinema market ...
and there are two gold souks as well .. that you might wanna visit, Gold is slightly cheaper in cost in Sharjah as compared to Dubai.

JBR stands for Jumeirah Beach Residences. It's an area with around 50 almost identical looking residential towers close to the beach. And besides JBR there is an area called "The Walk" which is basically a street facing the beach with restaurants and a few shops lined up.
