Gulfnews: Paan chewers continue to stain walls in busy districts
This is one thing I have seen in India. It's really disgusting. I think authorities in Dubai have to be a little more vigilant.

Sallams Arleitter - Dubai and most of the UAE is a NO-PAAN zone.... I saw traces of it in meena bazaar and places but generallly- its doesnt happen......

Yes Arlietter I too inferred this from my statement- it is still happening and it seems more apparent in the " ghetto" areas of Dubai.. methinks it will take a generation to totally become a PAAN - FREE Zone!!!...

^^Yes...You may be right.
But I think with strict laws in place,the authorities can place a check on this.
You know one thing,during my last trip to Dubai I had my vendor (a vietnamese)with me ,with whom I had gone out to meet distributors .This guy happened to spit in a couple of occassions as we were walking down the road.Later I came to know that this was a crime in Dubai and would lead to fine or some other penalty.This guy was doing it in public and nobody cared.
Later I called up this guy(after returning to India) to warn him not to do it.

Ohh Arleitter- if only people took ur civic responsibility more seriously!!!! Its a nasty habit and certainly doesnt do much for a cleaner and healthier envoronment... i have known of one case where a Police officer officially warned a Indo/Pak origin chap to cease such misdemeanours- in the ghettos of UAE- that Police officer would have extremely long days!!!!!!!!!!!!!... Thanks arleitter for sharing that!

that is good of you to call that guy adn warn him not to do it.. however there is a law against pan etc in dubai... whether people follow that law or not is different...

Just making a law is not enough. It should be enforced too. There is a law against speeding, but look how those morons drive on Sheikh Zayed Road, especially on Friday nights.
