So I am flying to Pakistan (from U.S) via emirates airlines and I have a 6 hour stay in dubai airport. I wonder if there are WIFI spots available (paid or otherwise) at Dubai Airport.

Since you are flying with Emirates and will be on terminal 3, it wont be a problem as its free all over the terminal.

Now, do I have to get a wall outlet adapter to power up my lappy at the airport or will the U.S one work.
(I know, I know... dumb question and I should know this, and I think I do but i just want to verify)

Asif2000, just show your boarding card to the attendent outside restaurant. She will mark the card with pen and let you in. In terminal 1, it is located next to the elevator going down to duty free.

It is located near right elevator going down to Duty Free. Mcdonalds food court is between two elevators. You won't notice it. you will see only a computer and attendant like check-in counter and there is small enterance next to him which takes you to this nice restaurant.
You can also read here under food and drinks:

In fact, the place is never crowded as not many people know this.
A lot of food choices and off course, Emirates standard. Eat as much as you want!
