If you are having an international Lisence then you can get a temporary permit for driving in Dubai, otherwise you are not allowed to drive here, if you will do so it would be a really big punishment waiting for you.

getting lisence in Dubai is very very nice and not an easy task, it helps you alot for your personal growth + there are lots more, when you will come here you will witness it yourself.

I think Getting D/Licence in Dubai is almost same as in Abu Dhabi , So I will tell you about abu dhabi.

How To Get D/Licence in Abu Dhabi ?

For to Be Eligible for Opening File in Maroor (Traffic Department) you should be on Selected Residence Visa and Possesing NOC letter from your Sponsor.

If You want to Applying your Indian/Pakistani etc D/Licence , you will have to make its Legal Translation upon presenting that , you will be exempted from PARKING, REVERSE and DRIVING ON BRIDGE Tests and taken on Road Test directly , but you will be having only One Chance for Road Test , If you succeed here you are eligible to get D/Licence.

In case you donot want to apply your Pakistani/Indian D/Licence , then you will have to Go to Emirates Driving Company in Mussafah , where they will Open Your file after your Eye Sight Test.

You will have to undergo for Theory Test (Multiple Chioce questions regarding Vehicles , Road Laws, Traffice Rules and Health and Safty).

At the School they will take your evoluation Test , so to suggest you from which area you to train in the school (There are Six areas in the School which one all have to pass).

After completion at the School(Upon completion they issue certificate to you) you will have to take appointment for Road Test (This time after clearing from school you have three chances for road test).

The appointement is given one or more month/months later meanwhile you can take Private Practice(From approved and nominated instructors) for Road Test and you are issued Green Card (a legal certificate to take practice for road test).

These days 1 hour rate is 50 AED/hr with Private instructor.

If you fail in clearing the Final Test (Road Test) in three chances , then you are again sent to Emirates Driving Company , where a committee assiss your personality and Skills etc and give Area Six i.e Road Test Preparation Practice.
Mostly Codidates gets clear from here and gets D/Licence.

OKie... Here U go.. Although Engrshami Explained .. but.. To give u Dubai Idea... Letme Type few lines as well...

First of all you need Residence Visa... and.. It should be the Visa on which you can apply for D.L. Till few monts back you could apply for D.L on any resident visa, now they have restricted it to.... Professional as well as Drivers Visas... So.. I hope U have professionla Visa...

Now Visa Type... If you have Normal Visa... You need to have NOC from you employer before you go to driving school from admission. If you have TECOM visa you need to take the NOC from the TECOM, I think it will cost you some 120 AED... not sure though.

Before Go to School for your admission... Keep in mind the followings..

Choose the school thats close to the place from where u will go to attend your classess...
Choose the school where they will give u traning on the area where your actual test will be condutec.. that helps you while you go for final road try.

Now.. for Schools.... I think in Dubai... Belhasa and Emirate driving schools are good ones.. The owners are actually brothers.. so you can say ... its same family but diff schools...

To Get Admission in the School, you need to submitt your original passport... few pictures.. I forgot how many.. I think 5. NOC letter etc... They will send for admission and regestration. I think at Dubai... for Automatic Vehicle its.. 80 AED per hour.. and.. for Manula its.. 85 AED per hour....

If you get Automatic Vehicle Lic... U would only be allowed to drive Automatic... If U get Manual You would be allowed to Drive both.. Manual is a bit harder to Pass...

It depends on what cataogry you are taking admission... But if U are in normal catagory... You will get your classes started in almost 2 months....

If you alrady have... Pak or Indian .. or Sri lankan etcetc.. DL... your 20 Hours are expmpted..
In Normal Case you will have to study for 40 hours... If U have the DL.. You will have to study for 20 Hours...

Tests are... U will have Signal Test... Parking test.. then... Preliminary Road thest.. then.. FInal Road Test...

Your total Cost till your first try will be.. Almost... 3200 AED..




PHEW.... so much typing..

in the Test.

When you are given appointment for Road Test (Final Test) , on the Back of that paper they have written all 35 or 23 i am not sure now , Points which will be assessed in Your Test.

itni akal Arl ko bhi hogi ke kisi bhi country main jane ke baad lisence lene ke liye traffic department main hi papres jama kiye jate hain. Kisi grocery main to jama nahi honge hahahahahaha. you are too much man. hahaha

My sister just passed her road test in first try yesterday, I saw the new assesment paper by RTA and they have changed everything! You are going to be assessed on a lot of things now. How you indicate, or if you do at all. Horn or not. How you steer the car, lane disciplane, etc etc etc.

If you want I can take a photo of that assessment paper and post it here for you so you can have a rough idea of what exactly they are looking for.

If you have a licence from Pakistan India etc they will give you 20 classes at the centre or school. You will also have to do parallel parking test, and L & S parking. After you clear your parking tests, you will have to clear your signal test. You clear that and there will be an assessment test. That is a mock test of a final road test. You clear that and then you wait around 1 week for a date of a road test and if you clear the road test you get your licence and if you do not you get 8 more classes and a road test date again. This process continues until you get your licence.

P.S PLEASE DO NOT enroll in Emirates Driving Institute, Qusais. I failed 7 times until I switched schools to Belhasa Driving Centre in Al Wasl, Jumeirah and passed on first try.
