There were plenty of things I loved in the original LBP -- frantic multiplayer, outstanding artistic and musical design, and an endless pool of community-generated content, to name a few -- but all of the game's delightful components relied heavily upon the strength of the its creation engine, and the aforementioned community's willingness to master the tools they've been provided.

While the PSP version of the game does an adequate job of transplanting these tools onto a portable console, a surprisingly large amount of that power and ease of use was sacrificed in the process. The level creation engine is functional, but doesn't come close to the standard set by the original game. That's partially because of the marginal changes that were made to how these tools function -- though, more than anything, the PSP's inherent lack of buttons plays the biggest role in the game's diminished accessibility.
It's like no other gadget that you've ever seen.

When it was released in the 1980s, the Atari 2600 game "The Music Machine" didn’t exactly tear up the charts. That's because it was only sold in religious bookstores, making it one of the rarest games to ever be released for the legendary console.
And for a mere $5,250, it could be yours -- or could have been, had you beaten out the winner of this eBay listing.
Sweetening the deal is the fact that this particular copy of the game is still sealed, meaning the original cartridge and manual are in mint condition. Copies of the nearly-impossible-to-find game don’t often come up for sale, and when they do, they're typically in much worse shape.
So what do you do in the game, exactly? We're not really sure -- few have ever even held a copy, much less played it -- but according to the game box, it sounds like a religious take on the Atari classic, Kaboom!:
"Symbols representing character-building qualities (the Fruit of the Spirit) are raining down from above. Stevie and Nancy need your help to collect the symbols and to avoid the mischievous pudgeons...and with each gift of Love you collect, the symbols rain heavier and faster."
(Yes, pudgeons. Not a typo, although could be related to pigeons. Hard to say.)
Think a video game selling for five grand is crazy? So do we, although compared to this copy of Nintendo World Championships for the NES, "The Music Machine" is a steal.

I can hardly see myself spending over $100 on a game, no matter how rare it is.

Lucky seller though. The unluckiest I heard of was the one who set the "buy it now" price of a PS3 with some games and Blu-Ray movies to $1.99 instead of the starting bid.

While it's unbelievably tempting to litter this piece with allusions to the various Mario and Luigi properties, we're instead going to bite our tongues and tell the story of some less-than-gentlemanly gents who beat and robbed a NYC cabbie at 4AM on November 1. According to police reports, the cabbie stopped his car at a gas station when one of the four patrons attempted to steal money out of his pocket. He asked the men to pay their fare and get out, which resulted in the attack.

In the video found on the NY Daily News website, two men dressed as Mario and Luigi can be seen assaulting the cab driver while another person in their party stands about, presumably watching for interference. The men are still at large and police are asking those with information to contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto NYPD Crime Stoppers, or text 274637 then enter "TIP577."
What, did you think we were talking about another game?

In the G4 video after the break, producer Gordon Van Dyke provides a running commentary of direct-feed multiplayer footage, demonstrating the kind of gameplay you'll be able to help tune (and also enjoy) in the PS3 multiplayer beta. Or, to put it a different way, there's thirteen minutes of direct-feed Bad Company 2 footage after the break. Hardly needs any more dressing up than that, does it? Enjoy it -- no tips required.
Sure, developer B&H could have opted to choose a more modest title like Bible Navigator 360 or plain ol' Bible Navigator -- but this app is meant for the kids. "This is also a great tool for youth ministers who teach in youth spaces that already have Xbox consoles in them," the press release says. "It's a quick way to create teaching aids from equipment you already have."

X will include HCSB versions of the Old and New Testament, search capabilities and an awesome animated intro. According to the press release, this marks the first time the full Bible can be viewed through a games console. "The Xbox isn't just secular entertainment anymore," said Aaron Linne, B&H Publishing Group's executive producer of digital marketing. Certainly, some players may want to download this after the "No Russian" level from Modern Warfare 2.

Like so many fancy Italian citizens in the Renaissance, Assassin's Creed 2's Ezio Auditore di Firenze has a sweet villa in the country to run off to whenever he's feeling overburdened by his ... ahem ... work. In this latest (and final) developer diary for next week's big game, we are introduced to the quaint villa where Ezio holds a vacation house. A perfect place to store weapons, explore family relics, and think about the world - a place where he can improve the economy to his own benefit and make life easier for himself.

We picture the villa as a fully realized (and mid-1400s-styled) version of GTAIV's many save houses, but, ya know, with assassin stuff instead of gangster stuff. But then again, being an assassin is pretty gangster. Uh oh, this is way too confusing - we'll have to get back to you after Assassin's Creed 2 comes out next week.
First there was a tiny, completely huggable Warthog, then a full-size Warthog and now we've got a working, custom Mongoose. The vehicle was spotted on Craigslist and, according to the seller, it was originally used as part of a Halo 3 launch event. A modified 2007 Kawasaki KFX 700 ATV, the seller claims it was won in a drawing, but now he has to sell it. If you could use a "mint condition" Mongoose -- and have $9000 laying around -- this baby can be all yours.

Once you pick it up, all you'll need is a buddy and a (Nerf) rocket launcher and you've got instant good times.

We know many Joystiq readers don't want to read spoilers on the site. That's why, for your sake, we've carefully posted the intro movie to New Super Mario Bros. Wii after the break. The upcoming 2D platformer returns the series to its roots, but adds a number of features that make it "new" -- it says so on the box. New power-ups and the addition of multiplayer radically change the feel of NSMBW, but we're not sure if gamers are prepared for the revolutionary new story featured in this latest adventure.

Check it out after the break.
