Location: Hilton Toronto
Street: 145 Richmond Street West
City/Town: Toronto
Website or Map: Hotels by Hilton - Hotel Reservations, Deals, and Room Rates

At a Glance
Now in its 9th year, FITC Toronto is one of the largest and longest running events of its kind in the world. With some of the most unique and engaging presenters from around the globe, FITC Toronto is an information blitz of presentations, demonstrations, and panel discussions, sandwiched between our legendary FITC parties and abundant networking opportunities. Topped off with the FITC Award Show, it's three days and nights that will leave you inspired, energized and awed.

Three full days and nights of events, plus one day of optional pre-festival workshops
Over 70 presentations and panels covering the Creative, Technical, and Business aspects of Flash and digital media
Over 1000 attendees from around the globe
Over 70 internationally renowned design and technology presenters
Includes the annual FITC Awards Show
Includes four FITC evening events
Includes the 'FITC Get a Job' event on Saturday, April 24, a free-to-attend job fair for the Interactive industry

This year's theme: Down and Dirty

Each year we choose a different theme for our Toronto event. For 2010, we asked our good friend and talented Canadian artist James Paterson (presstube.com) to work with us on on the theme and the creative. The result was 'down and dirty', which is all about rolling up your sleeves and getting it done!

New to FITC events?

FITC has held 20 events over eight years, through 10 cities and five countries, with over 700 presentations and over 10,000 attendees. From Flash to motion design, to design and creative inspiration, to other technologies like Flex, Air and processing, FITC events stand as unique and exciting events that educate, challenge, and inspire. We began as a Flash Festival, and kept Flash at the core, however we have also continued to add more and more diverse presentations over the years, ever expanding the programming of our events.

What's it all about anyway? Why should I go?

It starts with the presentations. Three solidly packed days of presentations, both technical and creative. Presenters from around the world have been hand-picked for their skill and talent, and all are eager to share and meet you. Most times, you will have five different presentations to choose from. It's also about the networking. Being able to meet and talk to people who share your passion for this industry. Meet them at the presentations, in the exhibitor hall, or at one of the evening parties. Did we mention the parties? We don't mean to toot our own horn, but FITC parties are legendary. Not that you should come just for the parties, but you could, if you really wanted to. We wouldn't tell anyone.

Who goes to an FITC event?

Flash Designer, Flash Developers, Motion Graphic Artists, Digital Artists and anyone in or having an interest in Flash and digital media. From our technical presentations for the beginner, the intermediate, and the super advanced, to the inspirational creative sessions, there is always something to choose from.

Every time I drive by downtown Toronto, I can't help notice and think about this monstrosity. While some would call it a modern monument, I don't like it all that much - it's angsty and too alienish.

Perhaps, one reason for my dislike is that I've spent a good six years of my youth in these downtown streets of Toronto, and appreciated the open spaces and traditional buildings. The Michael Lee-Chin Crystal just doesn't "fit" in more than one ways.

BTW, for those who might not know, the building has been designed by Daniel Libeskind who is the leading architect for the reconstruction of the WTC in New York.
