So I read this post over a week ago and thought I'd try it out. And wow just after a few days I've noticed a difference in my face. anyone else tried it?

Vitamin C serum | Skin Care

So to give you a little background. Vitamin C or Ascorbic Acid Serums are very unstable and are usually come in dark bottles to prevent oxidation, In addition they have stabilizers added to them. The easiest way to make a fresh batch of ascorbic acid is to get the following ingredients:
      1. Pure Vitamin C powder (Don't crush vitamin C pills as they contain binding agents). You can get these from any pharmacy or food store. My cousin was telling me that color collection (in lahore) is selling this.
      2. Glycerin
      3. water

Mix 1/4 tsp powder in 1 tsp of water (or more) or until it dissolves. mix in enough glycerin to make a serum. apply on face before going to bed and Vola. If you google "DIY vitamin C serum", you'll have alot of sites pop up with their own recipes. I've tried it and LOVE it. use it every day and the patchy areas will get lighter. Tried and tested my friend!!! nature at it's best

I posted something similar a while back. Not got around to trying it yet. Mostly because I don't know which powder to buy. The cheaper ones apparently don't absorb very well. I was going to buy the Philosophy one but it's kinda expensive.

What sort of difference did you notice?

An electrologist (probably one of the best currently practising) swears by VitC and MofM masks for his clients. And he clears whole faces of clients in one sitting (even transgender), so you can imagine how much care of their skin they need afterwards.

I noticed an instant radient glow. Even skin tones.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

I brought the one from Holland and Barrett's. The first day I used it I couldn't get to sleep My face was all sticky and I could feel the grains of the powder on my face. then I started using hot water to dissolve the Vitamin C powder and it worked better
Holland and Barrett - Product details for Pure Vitamin C Powder

I've been using this for about 4 days now and my face looks lighter and the redness is disappearing. the surface of the skin is smooth and soft. Yikes! down fall is u may feel a tingling sensation on the skin and the uncomfortableness from the stickiness. If ur on the go then just use it at night time after toning and moisturizing. I've been using it twice a day.

I measure my ingredients with a baby feeding spoon. and its enough to cover my face and my legs.

first I add the Vitamin C powder then the Glycerin I brake the powder down with the spoon then add the hot water and continue to break the powder down until it dissolves into the water.

I haven't tried it, but It leaves ur face with a shiny/sticky appearance. plus I make mine as I go along. It oxidizes quickly so u couldn't just add it to ur daily moisturizer and leave it. Its something u can either make daily or keep up2 a few days max.

^According to the Philosophy site you're supposed to mix a bit of powder to your moisturiser at the time of application (in your hand or whatever).

Sounds interesting. Any precautions while looking to buy vitamin c powder. Any special ingredients to look out for (that ensure it's effective)....or to watch out for that may be harmful?

How often should it be applied. What about applying citrus (lemon, for example, which contains vit c) to your face? Would that be less effective than the powder?

nope vitamin C pills r not the same as they contain binding agents.

So far I've only followed the same recipe as the poster mentioned. haven't tried mixing the powder with my moisturizer but I imagine the powder wont dissolve properly and will leave the grains of the powder on my skin will try it out tonight and let u guys know!

Nadz - Yes u leave it on all night.

RV - I have very sensitive skin. and so far this seems to work ok for me apart from a lil tingling sensation at first which is normal.......I couldn't leave lemon on my skin for more then a few minutes so no its not really the same thing.

U should be able to buy pure vitamin C powder from any health shop

CE, how long do you leave it on for? And how often should this be applied? Once a week? Once a month? And what benefits have you noticed? Has it lightened daagh/spots for you or evened skin tone?
