I need suggestions and pictures please. In Pakistan all my cousins would just wear black kurtas with white shalwar, some kaam on kurta with multi color shawls. Here the black color theme does not seem to work for mehndis. What color would look good for the men of the house ranging from the ages of 14- 72.

you can wear any color kurta. Since it is Mehndi anything from red, green, maroon, pale yellow would work.

OH boy, i may need you to call my family to convince the guys to wear pale yellow. Nothing against the color personally but these men get hives when you mention yellow or green....

Maroon sounds nice, do u know if mardana fabric is available in maroon color (cant really afford raw silk for 10 kurtas)

You can always go the traditional beige/cream route.

I don't know about fabric SM but my brother got stuff from Junaid Jamshed's shop and JJ has some maroon kurtas so I am sure other places do too.

I don't think pale yellow wud look good, esp. if the dupatta/scarf things r yellow...but maroon is good, i've seen guys wear it...u shud be able to get it in material other than silk...in Pakistan at least...someone mentioned JJ's shop...it's nice, but i think ur trying to save money rite? If u want to go to a boutique, then yea he has some nice clothes there...

At a family wedding in California, couple months back, my little bro (he's 12) wore a black shalwar kameez with a tie-dye, green, yellow, red dupatta...it looked really nice, Mashallah...and a lot of guys were wearing black also...so where r u that ur saying, black doesn't work there? I actually like beige coloured shalwar kameez on guys on mehndi

Thanks every one! See here in boston the desi community has weird assumptions about black on weddings. I have been trying to convince them that it looks great and is not taboo but...
Acha so with a creme or beige kurta does one do a white shalwar? We are getting the clothes made in Pakistan but the truth is that its so hard to count on any ones choice (including family and friends). Every one thinks their taste is immaculate... So im trying to send as precise the details as possible to avoid something the boys will fuss about.

my cuz got his mehndi outfit from Junaid Jamshed. It was a mehndi-ish green color with some kaam on the gala with a white shalwar. it looked very nice and perfect for a mehndi occasion

Yea, ur supposed to wear colourful clothing on the mehndi function, but i thought it was for girls only...but there's no harm in guys wearing colourful clothes too! I've seen guys wear beige shalwar and kameez's (like a set u know)...i guess if it's a kurta then a white shalwar wud be ok too...i've seen those sets that have a shalwar kameez (say in beige) that also have a smallish scarve in the same colour...those look really nice, in my opinion...well, it sounds like a big job for u to do...but trust me it's worth it, all that hard work esp, in Pakistan...it pays off though, when u see them all dressed up nicely on the big nite...good luck persuading everyone hehe!
