What do you do to shake a cold or flu? I've been sick since last Wednesday and I still haven't been able to shake this bug. I'm on anti-biotics and I've only seen a slight improvement. I've done the joshando, salt-water gargling, cough syrups, and tylenol. I wonder if there's something I haven't tried yet...

I like d home-made remedy of honey, giner and lemon -it reallty helps - also, brandy helps kill the phlegm - obviously u need to burn the alcohol by putting a teaspoon of brandy over a hot flame, which kills d alcohol and then mix it wid sum water - dont know if you'd approve of the 2nd option cos some ppl dont beleive in it.
Hope u get better soon.

Ginger tea definately helps. Don't know about brandy, never tried and never will.

Never heard of the 'brandy' remedy before. I doubt that 'teaspoon of brandy over a hot flame' burns all the alcohol.

The cold/flu is probably viral and thats why antibiotics aren't doing jack. You're best bet is your own immune system, so keep well hydrated and try the honey remedies. One of my aunt's swears by chicken yakhni so try that as well.
Hope you feel better soon insha'Allah *hugs*

You will not get any results from using anti-biotics...as said by others you have to let it run its course and rest so that our body can effectively fight it out.
Another thing probably antibiotics have or will give you upset tummy...always have yoghurt whenever you use antibiotics...it replaces the friendly bacteria that antibiotics kill off indiscriminately.

well i dont know if this works if you've had the cold/flu for a few days but when you feel a cold/flu coming on take about 4000 mg of vitamin C (Tablets) straight away & it should stop the cold/flu in its tracks. (check the dose by doctor but i'm sure its 4000mg)........if it kills you, it aint my fault....joking.

woah taking anti-biotics for something menial like Cold is very, very bad... As someone else pointed out before, cold is a virus, and not a bacteria so the antibiotics are going to do absolutely nothing. Infact overuse of antibiotics only weakens your immune system.
And if you just a have a cold(and not flu, both are very different), just tough it out. it will go away on its own. Letting your own body fight against the virus only streneghtens your immune system.
