ok so a good friend of mine is getting married in a less than two weeks, and while i have nice shalwar kameezein i could wear, i was thinking i might like a sari instead.

i know nothing about materials and what is appropriate for a wedding

i was going to stop by devon tomorrow and see if i could find something good but ready made...my concerns are obviously the fitting, and also, a blouse that's long enough or pinning the dupatta in such a way that you can't see my back/stomach

my mom can't go with me tomorrow, and i want to be a big girl and do this by myself

colors, material, price, etc...i know NOTHING

i was actually thinking maybe for the mehndi...but i don't know if i can dance in a sari...anyone ever tried?

sooo, any suggestions you ladies might have would be highly appreciated!!

A nice chiffon sari could look pretty chic. Get any color you like, or if you want to stick with mehendi specific colors, get a nice, light golden or mehendi greenish sari.

I remember seeing ready made stiched blouses in a variety of colors at Taj Sari Palace but not sure about the fittings, length etc. You could also check out the tailors in the area and they can perhaps sew a customized blouse for you. Sorry, i have never bought a sari on Devon so not sure what the price ranges are like. Browse through a few shops and maybe you will have a better idea at what you would like in a sari.

Since yu've never worn a sari before (I'm assuming) I'd suggest that you get a pre-stitched sari (with the pleats and stuff already sewn in). Ignore all the sari-enthusiasts here who hate prestitched saris ... it'd be easier for u to handle.. umm I wudnt use the sari for dancing, esp since ur wearing one for hte first time ever. I think most colors shud be OK, fabrics, get chiffon or a variation of banarsi (to my knowledge, real banarsi is very expensive)...Ummm i dunno abt Devon street, but here in NY desi outfits, esp really nice saris, are just way tooooooooo expensive...i'm not sure of the price ranges..

I think Muzna will help u out the best
