Hi, I love wearing salwar kameez and other pakistani clothing. You guys are like masters of embroidery. Well I wear salwar kameez all the time. Now, I'm not Pakistani, i'm mexican and I don't think I could pass for pakistani..actually i think i stick out like a sour thumb with my blond hair and blue eyes, but my husband is pakistani. I love so many things of his culture as he loves the food from mine a lot! ....now my question is...do you guys ever feel like hey whats that person doing wearing a salwar kameez she's doing it totally wrong? or are you guys like, hey look cool she like shalwar kameez? Just wondering.

Thanx

Nah, i think it's quite nice.
The ones who have a problem with non-desis wearing shalwar kameez and eating desi food are the ones who would probably have a problem with desis wearing shalwar kameez and eating desi food

At a wedding that I attended recently, the bride had two Mexican friends who wore shalwar kameez. I thought it was neat.

it feels nice to see someone else wearing the attire. however i can see what you mean about feeling like a sour thumb, its probably because the body language of non desis is different and it takes a little getting used to, to pull off shalwar kameez and dupatta. and many non desi folks leave the dupatta out but i think dupatta basically accentuates the attire. it also depends upon how comfortable you are wearing it, because that has alot to do with the body language.

I dont' think i've ever seen a (naturally) blonde hair, blue eyed Hispanic/Mexican/Latino. But i've seen plenty who resemble desis

awww you guys make feel so good , sara yeah there are a lot of us with naturally blonde hair and blue eyes....it runs in my family , well mostly there are red heads with green eyes, but we have a couple more blondes other than me. Actually the hispanic people as a whole are very diverse, some of us very white looking i guess you could say, some of us are of black too, and some of us have an olive complection like pakistanis...i guess its like the americans...you can find some white people with black hair, red hair, or blonde...thanx guys so much. i really do love the salwar kameez...its comfortable, beautiful, and just so feminine looking...and i guess it is my body language too that makes me seem odd....i cant quite get used to floor sitting...it seems like im the only one who keeps shifting from leg to leg because they fall asleep.

thanx

Senorita,

A bit of encouragement. I also wear a Mexican hat that I bought in Mexico, though I dont know any mexican girls far and wide; lol. Never seen a blonde mexican but I am sure you would be looking great in shalwar kameez. I feel like feminine South Asian dresses are one of the best for females. Though my opinion could be biased, but I dont feel the same for sub-continent clothes for men.

gracias

sombrero; No, I haven't; lol; but I would love to try that out too. Actually, its more like a Cowboy type leather hat with a mexican style band on top of it and I love it

I remember seeing one or two blonde white ladies in mexico but I thought that they were Americans at that time. Though they dont yet serve any Halal stuff there, or even here in mexican rest., but some of the vegetarian burrittos were quite good.

Been to Pakistan yet? How would it be (or was it) like seeing shalwar kameez everywhere, along with dupatta, and ofcourse Pakistani cusine.
