I like salayee...not karhayee though...but we have an old sewing machine...that my mom bought several years ago...and it is also by Singer...and yes...they still do make it...we have Singer Shops here in Lahore...and various models of sewing machines are available there...

Are you into embroidery too?

i know salai and as well as all stiches.
i have also singer machine it can do button kaaj, piping with different styles, peco and simple applique but for complex machine embroidery (flowers)and different applique styles u have to learn more n more(practice).

in my singer machine their r too many small plates(discs) with the design pattern on them that what actually u want to make.

singer co. also provides u free classes for few days to learn all functions of their singer products.

other machines brands are imported like.... gennome, puff.
they r also gud

Hmm...I don't really know about the "best" brand of machine...but this machine by Singer has been with us for more than 20 years...and it still works fine...so I believe its quite good...

I have Pfaff....its really good. But I bought a model with way too many functions. Sometimes i feel i could do with a simpler one as i don't use it THAT much. Anyway, still its very good.

Worried

At home at my mums, at one pojt in time we had so many sewing machines.....as my nani, mum and me were all big sewing fans....I think at the time my nani passed away, we had around6!
We've tried all brands, like Singer, Toyota, Janome, New HOme, Brother....but at the end of the day, I think that it's what you make of it....right now at home I have a Brother and Toyota one, both are basic, but I am not as content with these as I am with the New HOme computerised version I have at my mum's....gonna go steal it!!!!

i was gonna ask...are the computerized ones with the fancy touch screen and stuff worth it, if all you do is occasional fixing stuff and an occasional shalwar kameez?

^
thats why i think i bought a pretty expensive one than i needed. I've hardly used twice or thrice the fancy embroidery programmes....mine is that one touch computerized n all. but for regular sewing a plain normal one could also do. Mostly i sew frocks for my daughter or shalwar qameez etc. for myself....n hardly ever any cushions n sorts.
