I am thinking of getting fake nails for my mehendi, wedding and valima. It will be my first time. Did any of you gals ever get them? If so was it uncomfortable? I wear contacts and I am worried about being able to properly remove my contacts once I get my nails on. I don't want to poke myself in the eye
Thoughts, ideas, pictures?

^^Haha Lusi your so funny. I guess my wording was incorrect. I meant pics of fake nails since I didn't see a thread relating to that.
I also wanted to hear what girls who wore contacts and fake nails had to say about it since those 2 can create quite a complication.

i had acrylic nails put on for my engagement.. although my hands looked nice, i hated them! its such a nuisance, probably cos i wasnt used to it...it felt really awkward to me (maybe its just me) & i noticed i was using my hands more while i was talking- like i was advertising them lol ..mine werent that long so i was able to everything normally & i did manage to put my contacts in without poking myself- so dont worry!
the main thing i didnt like about the acrylic nails is that obviously you cant pray with them, they take a while to grow out, they look awful wen they do start growing out so i had them removed which takes long & damages your nail.
but if u are planning on having them for ur events then get it done on the day of ur mehndi... i wouldnt recomment fake nails (the ones u stick on) bcos they have the risk of falling off whereas acrylics are fixed on- & u can get designs put on them which looks fab! x

i agree with LUSI-- how bout u grow ur nails out and get a coating on top of ur nail- its called silkwrap- and it puts a hard coating on ur nail so it doesnt break- but acrilic nails arnt bad either but if ur not not used to them- id suggest the stick on's or the silk wrap- and its not do hard putting ur contacts in with ur nails- all u have to do is put it on the tip of ur nail and stick it in ur eye-- just dont poke ur eye out and say jee thanks Sali786 lol good luck

Ny gal and u've never had acrylic nails??
acrylic nails just look really pretty, i think the white-tip/french looks so nice against the dark mehndi and churiyan and all
they are kind of uncomfortable tho but after a few days when the wedding and stuff is over u can just go to the salon and get them taken off again.
I wear contacts too, what i wud do was put the contact at the sie of my fingertip.. if that makes any sense?? also, if it'll be ur frist time, get them at a length that will look nice but not be completely uncomfortable!

If you decide to get them just make sure you don't get them too long. I used to get em quiet often and I wear contacts myself. Never had a problem putting my contacts on.

Fake nails as in the glue on ones? The stick on ones? Acrylics? Gels?
I got Acrylics once (it's like $30). They buff down your nails and file them from the top ( ) and then they glue on white tips and then they put the acrylic on top and then the shape the nail. I would ask them to make the edges rounded otherwise they look really nasty and fake. They look great but the worst part is taking them off. I almost started crying when I took mine off (the first and last time I got my nails done) because they were so messed up. My nails were all thin and damaged and it took a good 2 months before they grew out completely. I would strongly advise against getting acrylics or gels. The best choice would be to grow out your own nails and get them manicured and painted, and if you can't do that then maybe get some good-quality stick-on nails that will last you atleast the night.

If you wear soft lenses it's easy to take them out without using the pinching them with fingertips method......
Take them out like you would hard lenses...that is to pull the outer corner of your eyelid up towards your temples. Look down at the floor - bend your head doen. Hold your hand underneath your eye. The lenses should easily fall into the palm of your hand.

Oh my god I can't believe I never thought of that! Thank so much hun.
Hmm the silk wrap sounds like a good idea. I have 2 weeks till my wedding day and I have been growing out my nails for awhile now so that sounds like the best option.

You cant pray/wudhu/ghusal with acrylics. Fake nails worked like a charm for my sister on her nikah. I scared her pretty good that they were gonna fall off during her nikah but the glue worked so well that a couple of them refused to come off after the event She used the french manicure ones. I would highly recommend those unless you arent too concerned about namaz etc.

Whatever you do, dont get the fake nails. I've been getting them continuously for a few months now only cuz everytime I take em off my nails look so horrible and break so easily that I feel embarassed looking at my nails and cover em up again with the fake nails. Finally had the himmat to just take em off for good now... and my nails look like crap right now. They chip and break so so easily its really horrendous. Grow em out and just get the wrap..
