I will be having two different dresses for Eid, I am contemplating Shalwar Kameez during day and Saree for evening, please suggest some kewl and different stuff...........
Thinking of going for maroon and green sumthing like this......but not sure as yet......
or
if lighter shade then prolly.......
for saree I m thinking of either going with dark blue, as I have got nice jewelry to compliment that...but open to ideas........plenty of those will be highly appreciated!
They're pretty.. but just a suggestion-- perhaps you should go with something a little more modest for EID? I'm no stickler for dress.. but it's an Islamic holiday and I think we all need to reflect that first and foremost.
oh come on lady, no one dresses in sleeveless to give others pleasure... its done cos you like the way it looks. if she's comfortable and confident enough to wear sleeveless, so be it. personally, i find sleeveless suits me better than short sleeves, so thats what i wear
once in my painting class, fellow female artist painted a girl, trapped in some red box/room. when my teacher asked a guy to critique the painting he said all i see is red light area theme, which was not even near to the actual theme.
moral of the story...if u really wana know the real picture, ask ur opposite sex.
ALHUMDULLAH i am straight so i wont gonna gain any pleasure....but it is always a good idea to provide comfort to others vision as well.

For EID? Islam states that we should not make ourselves beautiful for men who are not related to us. I don't understand this thread. If you're going to celebrate an ISLAMIC holiday, let's stick to Islam please.
EID is a blessing, it is a gift from our Creator, and we should cherish it as such. Its our reward for the month of us sacrificing that which is generally halal... eating is natural, but we give it up for a part of day ONlY and ONLY because our creator says so, and because it pleases Him... no one would know if we ate in private but we abstain from it ONLY to please our Lord.
Ramadan is also a month to improve ourselves as Muslims (those who have "fast" tongues control it, those who are slack about Salat offer it, etc)
Having said that it does seem a bit strange that we'd spent an entire month trying to please out Lord, only to disobey Him on the day that He prescibed as our celebration, our gift, our reward.
The clothing posted above is fine (i.e. halal) for us Muslimas to wear as long as we only wear it infront of our Mahrams, or in segregated parties. We should beautify ourselves particularly on this day, and preparing for it to please Allah will have it's rewards too, as Allah has said that "He likes beauty" (paraphrasing). But there is no allowance for beautifying ourselves infront of those God Himself has forbidden.
May Allah guide us all, accept our fasts, and make us steadfast on our deen, Ameen.

id match the peachy kameez with a dark royal elegant blue as it will stand i like matching as it is my own unique design and most of all no one has the same as me..
but also remember to theme the colours with the weather it also helps..

long live musharraf!..we still love u sir ..ur a survivor..!
I personally like the last one (in maroon) too, but not sure if it would look too formalish... but since there will be quite a lot of people that either we will be visiting or them coming over.....dunno!
But now after reading Zobia and MatineeSirens comments I am thinking that this one would be better......
It is a no pun intended statement and change of my mind ...and I really respect what everybody has to offer as advice......

If you're celebrating an Islamic holiday, you FOLLOW what Islam says and dressing in a specific manner is an Islamic OBLIGATION. It's called integrity. If you're going to call yourself a Muslim, freakin act like one.
And don't be rude about your inability to see the difference between fawning over one's pride and someone simply asking another to act like a Muslim when celebrating an Islamic holiday.
Don't like Islam says about how to dress? Don't celebrate EID, because you're not a Muslim.
Simple.
AND if you're THAT ignorant of what hijab means, then you have no right telling anyone what they should wear. You don't need to wear a damn burka to follow Islam. Just don't wear a plunging neckline , tight and short pants, and sleeveless gowns (like the pictures in this thread).
And you know, I find it laughable that I'm seen as such a prude when I work in the fashion industry. And I don't give a damn what a person wears, as long as they're not misrepresenting themselves. And at least I don't work with designers and models who walk out on the runway half naked and say ALLAHU AKBAR at the same time.
Fashion is one thing, being a dirty hypocrite is another.
MatineeSiren.....seems like you took it very personally! but the thing is if you say dress according to Islamic values then yes....anything other than proper hijab is against the teachings or lets say preferences laid out in Islam....
I was asking about ideas...which one is more liked by guppans ova here...., did I ask opinion on how to celebrate.....If I did...I am sorry for doing so and tender my apology for that part!
I got your point, but if one really mean to follow Islam in true letter and spirit and do not twist its interpretations according to one's own needs to justify their way of dressing then yes....buqa..or abaya is what one should wear in public...so as we will be going out to different people's homes therefore burqa was the right choice...wasnt it?
So I do not understand why you got flared up so much!

Islam says we have to do purdah from all Na mehram, irrespective of the occassion...so what is the point of discussing any further.

Thank you for your decision on who should and should call themselves Muslims, and if I go by your statements, whosoever is not complying to the dress code laid down in Islam is non believer......

Come on, be an adult.
Even a bare single strand of hair is against the dress code laid down in Islam......I know that...and I think you know that too, so relative acceptance (and this could be huge debatable issue as well....as something bold to me might not be bold to you) of modern clothing is not in sync with what our religion teaches....
I hope that we can discuss the religious and personal perspectives in other forums like Religion & Scripture then Fashion & Beauty.......then it would be better.....
I am not going to comment any further as to what is acceptable for Eid or not, but would like other members to give their opinions on which one is "better"....and not necessarily "right" according to their opinion!

All I did was ask that people remember that this is an Islamic holiday, and to not get caught up in their own personal desires. And yet, I felt I was attacked.
I'm not going to argue this further here (because I do highly disagree with you on several points). If this were specifically about fashion (going to party, etc), I'd have no issue with the thread. But as it's Islamically related, I felt I had to speak up.
Look up a little about hypocrisy, and see how it's compared to being a kufr.
And how much worse it is than being a kufr.
And you know, I find it laughable that I'm seen as such a prude when I work in the fashion industry. And I don't give a damn what a person wears, as long as they're not misrepresenting themselves. Sleeveless doesn't make anyone dirty hypocrite... the designs that being posted here, doesn't really means that people might be wearing them the same. Mostly the designs posted here are for idea, rest everyone make changes in them to their taste. So stop bashing!
