I posted this on the wedding forum but thought i'd have a go on this one as well.

Hi everybody, my brothers getting married in October and i've booked to get my hair and makeup done for all 4 functions (mehndi x2, Baraat and valima). I was just wondering if you guys could give me some advice on how to get my hair done. The problem i have is that my hair is cut into a "bob" style and is quite short (not even to my shoulders) and i'm not quite sure what she'll be able to do with it. I'm going to go and see her after rozay for a chat but i thought if i went with some ideas it might make life easier.
I dont want my hair up in a "bun" cuz i think it might make me look like i've got a fat face! I even thought about going and getting some extensions but i thought that might be way tooo drastic.

Please help!!!!

^ Yeah, I was going to suggest the same. Half tied/half lose curls. Your stylist will put in hair extensions that she'll just clip on --- nothing drastic. It'll give you a nice soft look and you can undo it within minutes after.

Tell us What clothes are you wearing on all days??
So we can give you suggestions.

Having short hair doesnot limit you at all.

Is the wedding happening in Pakistan?? You can buy a fake choti from Saddar, and take it along to your stylist. For mehndi you can have it braided into your hair with a paranda and it'll look very cute.

You can also get your hair in big rollers to get the Marilyn Manroe look http://www.solarnavigator.net/films_...e_laughing.jpg

If you are going to wear a heavy outfit on the baraat then keep the hair simple maybe the front teased up a bit for height and swept back in a bun. You can add a nice hair accessory to the bun to make it look elegant OR a flower to match your dress, Like this http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:...t.com/d/beauty

Valima you can go all out and have an updo with lots of teased curls on the top

thats exactly the sort of thing i want. I'm not really a bling bling type of girl, my style is very simple and i dont wear lots of makeup (bit of foundation and lipstick and i'm good to go) But my mum insists i've got to look properly done up
Do u think i'll have to provide my own extensions or do they provide them. I'm sorry if my questions sound a bit anaari but i dont wanna look like an idiot when i go and see the makeup/hair lady

No the weddings taking place in the UK, my older brother got married in Pakistan and things were so much easier. The beauty parlour lady knew exactly what she was doing and even though i had short hair she managed to make my hair look different on all the functions But i've noticed here in the Uk its just not the same. I dont mean it in a horrible way but its just so much harder to get what u want!
I like the picture!
my barat outfit is pretty heavy, its a firozi jamaavaar lengha with kaam on the shirt, so you're right a simple do would be ideal, maybe something half up and a couple of curls and for the valima one of those "messy" type of jooras? what do u think. My valima outfit is purple shalwaar kamiz with silver kaam, again quite blingy and i think a simple updo with curls like u suggesred will look nice.

I'll kep u posted on the ongoing saga!

my cousin had a bob cut so on her sister's wedding she had her hair done by parlour, the lady at parlour kept bangs from the front, & did back cobing of upper hair, & left the back hair open, was looking cute, she also wore tikka so side swept bangs with back combing & open frm back gave really nice look. sorry haven't got her pic so cannot post u

The rule of the thumb is to create balance, if your outfit is heavy you donot wanto look all congested with an elaborate updo so yeah a bit of backcombing to give height and swept to the back in a neat bun would be nice accessorized with either a large flower or a hair ornament for the baraat.

If someone's going to pakistan, or coming from pakistan, cut a strand of your own hair and give it to them so they can get you those fake braids. They are awesome for short hair, you can put in a paranda and it'll look cute.
