As salaamu aleykum wa rahmetuhAllah everyone! I am seeing some sari fabric that looks sooOOoo pretty. But I want the fabric to be for a lengha. Is it possible to do this with the long sari material? (I.e. assuming the sari has alot of kaam)

U r limited only by your ability...

Sari fabric is narrow, but long enough, u will need to cut semi triangular parts on the bias. I think it could b achieved, but u will have a hard time with matching the pattern up on the finished item.

A better idea would be to utilize the sari fabric into the dupatta or the shirt of the dress and where you get it made from they can match the fabric with it for the lehnga.

Fine

^ that's a fabulous idea! you could even make a longer shirt and get a plain shalwar/trousers/straight pants made with it as well...that way, you'll be able to wear it later, too.

why not just wrap the sari lengha style or mermaid style?

when i wear a short blouse sari to a muslim event my dad is pretty strict on me being totally covered so i wrap my sari and in the front i do the V thing. it works out just fine, i was at an engagement some time ago and later on that night it was just women only. So i went to the restroom and fixed my sari bengali style (on my shoulder) and came out and everyone was like omg i had no idea that was a sari i thought you were in a lengha this whole time. i just laughed and got a kick outta it.

mermaid style looks very lengha like as well

Don't mess with Texas...

I can stitch it myself actually. I am a tailor but Im not pakistani so I wasnt sure if it was something normal culturaly : D Im looking around though for some sari material with alot of kaam on it. When it comes to lengha im kind of picky so I either need to get the kaam done from someone explaining what I want or find some with it already and stitch it myself. I like the skirt to be really full A line
