I would wear whatever is my taste and style to any wedding-posh or desi or any type of it..the difference will just be if it is of some one close from family or distant relatives/friend(heavy formal or light formal)

I would wear a classy Angharka!
Some days are a complete waste of make-up!

You could wear a lehnga in a neutral colour like offwhite.

our desi dresses are so elegant .. we are very lucky really ...
I once wore a lehenga , black and red combo ... and people wouldnt stop complimenting me .. it was a very posh event ... at another time , I wore an anarkali dress deep red with very elegant gold work on it .. and the same happened ... people just went crazy ...
I realized , mashallah our desi dresses are very elegant , you just have to choose the right colors for the event ...

Its my uncles wedding and the brides family are ridicously rich as are the guests, scary thought for a working class northern girl! The dress code is formal and no black!
Liking the idea of an anarkali dress but dont have the legs to pull it off :-(
Whats a Angharka?

I think a nice classy sari in some nude colours, with heavy embriodry(can be on the blouse or pallu that drapes at the back and on chest area) would be nice, with some nice timeless bold piece of jewelry ( I think pair of long earings or a kara) - but this is my opinion. Good luck, I know the pressure

yeah...u can look even posh if ur suit is casual...its just what u make of it...
i would also go for a embroidered salwar kameez, or jacket style...sari is always good (if u feel comfortable) then nice jewellery...nice clutch...high-heels...and when ur make-up and hairs are done great...u R the queen on the scene

You can wear a really elegant kurta shalwar, or you can wear a lehnga, or you can wear a sari. And you can accessorize with awesome jewelry, purse, and shoes. Your hairstyle and makeup will also complete your look. Basically its the combination of a variety of things that brings the whole look together. We can help you decide better if you let us know the ideas you have in mind. And you can (if you want) post pics of the clothes you have in mind and we can help you narrow your choice down.

Her black sari is pretty - but it seems to be draped very untidily. Sari's should be worn elegantly and neatly. Otherwise it just looks messy.

@BlushingRose: do you have more pics of desi socialite outfits.
@lemon_tart: Glad you could makeup your mind.
