Guys plz help. My mum thinks i should have a banarsi sari as she thinks everyone should have at least one in their wardrobe.
Could someone tell me what its like to wear, ie is the kapra really stiff? I have only ever owned chiffon ones and never worn a banarsi ever.
Could u also post some pictures of some nice ones please,
thanks.

banarsi sarees are beautiful. i am more into chiffons as well as they are lighter to carry but if you wear the banarsi one properly, it's not that stiff or difficult to carry around. since my dad's side of the family is indian, my mom got alot of authentic banarsi sarees from there, her collection is amazing, mA. banarsi sarees especially in maroon, black, blue look awesome. married women wearing yellow banarsi sarees for mayun/mehndi is a tradition in my mom's family.

thanks guys, i think i always imagined to be like wot they were in the 1980's. I remember my cousin wearing them and they had massive gold borders but the one above looks nothing like the hideous sari my cousin had. love the colour.
Wow, Shay u're mums collection sounds awesome. i think i might be persuaded to get one. Its just we;ve got a couple of weedings coming up this summer and my mum thought it might be nice to try a banarsi one. will keep u posted on developments.
