hello beauties!...so with a wedding comes dholkis, maayons, and then all the post-wedding dawats.. and as much as we'd all love to hire a make-up artist for each day (only if we were all millionaires!), there are days we are going to have to do our own make-up.. im on the hunt for the PERFECT foundation..one that looks good in person and in pics...i know everyone has such different skin types and preference of liquid, powder, or creme foundation, but im curious to find out what most of you desi gals wear...

also, if you have a favorite mascara, eyeliner, blush you want to mention, please do so!! id love to hear your thoughts and recomendations! (if anyone is wondering, im medium toned and combination/oily)...so specifically, im looking for stuff that looks good on desi skin tones/types...i guess more of us fit in the "yellow based" category..

some good ones ive heard of are...
mac studio fix (liquid) - although a lot of my friend have broken out from MAC products..booo

armani luminous silk liquid

dior forever liquid

...let me know what personal experiences you've had.. hopefully it'll help me when im out next time make-up shopping! thanks lovelies!

With the wedding in several months i want to start taking car of my skin in advace so i dont worry lasat min. but yea try bare minerals:

but Full Coverage this time. i bought it for my wedding but unlike all the other MAC foundations it doesn't have that really yellow/orange colour in the NC's and C's. i use it with a synthetic flat foundation brush and you can really control the amount of coverage that way. for my wedding, i built up the layers and used it all over face and neck. after that, i'm still using it but with a light layer brushed on both cheeks and chin only. i use powder on top too, to set it and make the whole face look even.
it's a pro product though. and i never let MA's help me because they always get it wrong. i always apply a few shades along the jawline and go outside to check them in daylight. if you're not confident choosing yourself, take a friend who's opinion you trust.
powder - mac select sheer pressed. a tv make-up artist recommended this to me. it's great for setting makeup and keeping you looking less shiny. i can't believe i didn't find it earlier.

nars blushes.. there is a thread about blushes too with the most popular nars shades mentioned.
guerlain terracotta bronzing powder
or mac mineralized skinfinish natural in dark or deep dark

eyeliner - mac fluidline

eyeshadows - mac of course, mac paint pots are awesome and quick to use too.

I had a similar experience with mac concealer (it came in a pot)...ie. it was just too orangey/yellowy...I have quite fair skin...and it just made me look orange in parts...so I went back and told them i wasnt impressed. Iv now bought a different concealer from them...and it works like a dream...it comes in a slim tube, like a mascara but with a brush inside. I will let u know wat it is exactly once i check in the morning...but it is the perfect colour match.

Also if u want the absolutely perfect foundation, say for your own wedding - then go to Prescriptives. They will actually match the colour for u...and make a foundation speicifically for u. It is a bit expensive...but it is ur big day!

Nars is great....but if ur talking about everyday makeup or even the dholki's etc (im getting engaged in July), I swear by BodyShop blusher - i cannot tell u the no. of times people have complimented me on it. It gives the perfect shade and glow to ur skin. Also i like to add a little smidge of Maybelline mousse blush on top...just to bring out a bit of pink in the cheeks. It makes my skin absolutely sparkle. I was stopped in a shop the other day and someone actually asked me how i made my skin glow, so Im taking that as a good sign.

As for my everyday foundation...nope its no big brand, although I have tried Dior in the past (it was ok, not amazing)...I used maybelline liquid foundation (liquid to powder finish). I have medium to dry skin so it works very well...and gives a flawless coverage...however I have recently discovered that Maybelline's new satin finish foundation is even better. Honestly...just because it is cheaper does not mean its not great. I use the mac concealer for under eyes and any blemishes, then the maybelline foundation on top. It looks great.

Hope this helps!!

x

Lancome for all powder, foundation, mascara, lipgloss needs.

M.A.C. for lipstick and eyeliner.

Victoria's Secret for eyeshadow (surprising, I know. Haha, but they work great). Also, my favorite kind of eyeshadow is Pakistani. There's a 98 color eyeshadow kit by Max Touch that you can get in cosmetic shops all over Pakistan. I don't bother with anything else except the V.S. ones. They work very well.

I mostly use this very light weight foundation I have from Cargo, mix it with some MAC strobe cream and go over with my studio fix powder. But for these special occasions I also dab on directly to my face this kryolan foundation stick I got when I was getting married. And blend that with my fingers. (Don't own a foundation brush, but I guess that will give even better coverage). I just love the overall look. Very dewy skin but you've to be careful to wear a primer before you dab on the foundation stick b/c it wont blend otherwise. Also, if you want a lot of coverage then dab it onto your skin heavily and go over with a wet sponge. I just do the foundation/strobe and dab on some from the foundation stick at the spots where I would otherwise use concealer.

Mac, faces and makeup forever for eyeshadows/ glitter/ pigment pots. L'oreal for mascara/ liner. Tons of blushes to choose from.. no particular favorite. Mostly go over with a highlighter on the cheekbones -- I've a few loose powder nude shadows from faces, I use those as a highliter, or just dab on some strobe cream.
