Something I have experienced is that the more synthetic stuff you use on your skin, regardless of the brands and costs. the worse it will be for you in the long run and the quicker your skin will age. Shelling out hundreds or thousands of rupees on beauty regime would be out of reach for most of the middle-class Pakistani women and hence they rely on homemade remedies for that purpose which is the best thing we can ever do for ourselves.
I remember that my nani always used a mixture of rosewater, glycerin and lemon juice as a moisturizer and would massage her body with oil after a bath and she insisted that we follow her too but we were allured by creams/lotions that came in pretty packages and smelled delicious.
Now, when I'm in my early twenties, I am getting drawn towards more and more natural and organic stuff and have never been happy with the result those products are showing.
