well there is this huge debate over yellow concealers being a complete retardation-theory since under-eye circles are green/purplish and yellow is not on the opposite side of the wheel for these colors.
i havent really been to a MAC counter yet, but i got a little girly time going on at the Bobbi Brown side. and they have 2 things ... a corrector and a concealor ... which in fact makes sense since i have darker circles and it looked pretty natural .. but then buying two things is screaming at my wallet!
so who has tried MAC ... who uses bobbi brown? what are your experiences? any other cheaper/good concealers for darker under eye circles in shades for our skin colors?

CONFUSED.

also i live in rotterdam .. and its supposed to be a big city .. but it doesnt have even 1/8th of the products existing in the world  ... and going all the way to amsterdam ... uhhhhh ...

I ve tried the studio sculpt concealer and the studio finish concealer both by MAC, the studio finish is really really good ... but then again .. almost everyone .. including my mom keeps complaining that MAC goes dark .. and yellow .. I dont see how .. MAC shades work really well for me!

i use BB and it works well for me!

It doesnt change colour and is long lasting.

I dont have bad dark circles though, i use it over my foundation for blemishes and to brighten up the eye area!

alvena, I'm actually looking for a light weight (rather, feeling of it) concealer because the mac one i have is really thick, feels waxy as applied and collects in the crease. argh. would you rec I try the bb one from your experience...i've heard they are really good...maybe i'll get a sample or something....haha, also 'confused' like farrah now.

Predatory

I dont really use concealors but if I am super tired and need something under the eyes, I use Dior Skinflash. Its not exactly a concealor...more like a brightener and really makes the eye area appear brighter and alive.

Another trick I learned somewhere on these forums is simply taking your very own foundation and mixing it with a bit of Stilife by MAC. It makes the entire face or whatever area you use it on look brighter and just a teeny tiny bit of shimmer helps too.

i am a bit scared for using MAC cuz it has a reputation of generating acne problems for quite a many ... and it becoming cakey and so on ...
and AngelWings, i saw somewhere a tutorial for foundations on a darker complexion and they said to use a shade or two lighter becuz the pigment oxidizes on our skin tones due to something in our skin or something (melanin??) and causing it to appear darker after like an hour or something.
The Dior skinflash looks interesting, but the shades look so light??? same problem with the YSL touche eclate which is suppose to be the best, but they have a serious lack of shades.
I have serious butterflies in my tummy now and tiny cupids pushing me to go buy the bobbie brown duo ... i have to admit it felt like nothing and looked very natural.

Makeup Forever has great concealers with different undertones for specific area's.

Some days are a complete waste of make-up!

farrah,

for under eyes: MAC select cover-up - a lightweight liquid concealer that comes in a lot of shades. on top of this, Dior Skinflash - it looks light in colour but it's for light reflecting so you can't tell when it's blended in. II or III are best for desi skintones.
have been using this combo for years and people always ask me how i cover up my under eyes so well.

for the lid: a MAC paint such as bare canvas. it will make the lid look lighter. on it's own looks like a nude-ish shadow, otherwise is an excellent base for eyeshadow and making the colours stand out.

oh... and skinflash is way better that touche eclat - i have converted many people!

Makeup Forever's concealer is better than MAC and BB and you won't need anything else because it completely covers dark circles and doesn't even look heavy.

i second that i have used select cover up as well as select moisturecover
for everyday i prefer moisturecover and it is VERY light and blends beautifully... make sure u dust very slight loose power on top to set it esp for summer
i personally don't like the studio sculpt concealor as it is too thick and requires too much tugging and the end result is too heavy...and u can get that much coverage from select cover up

i haven't tried the drio skinflash but i'll be sure to check it out
smashbox has an eye brightener which is a total waste... doesn't brighten at all... thankfully i got it free in a kit i bought

one more thing.... i know a lot of MUA recommend a shade or two lighter for concealor but believe me the best thing is ever did for my under eyes is to actually match the color
lighter just makes it look too ashy

I had a MAC conceler and i hated it! it was too thick and waxy.

This BB one i have i love because it matches my skin tone perfectly, so i can use it for blemishes without using foundation or i can use it with foundation for a more 'flawless' finish and it is long lasting!

i have heard A LOT of good reviews about MUFE ... you're either a MUFE person or a MAC ... but i'm not sure if MUFE is available in rotterdam ... will have to look.
and i completely agree with surreal123 ... matching concealer exactly works wayyyyyy better than getting a shade lighter ... but perhaps its also dependant on the product and how it lasts and what changes it goes through throughout the day.
i have rather dark under-eye-shadows (in my opinion) so i dont really want sheer coverage.
but i really will go try the skinflash.

BB has lots of different types of concealers and different shades. GO and get a few samples or have a little trial thats what i did!

She used different concealers on my face and i chose the one i liked best!

well... i only went to the BB counter once and the color she applied on me didn't match too well but i didn't bother to try another shade because it was thicker than what i wanted

sometimes white people (even oriental) have a hard time matching shades for us as they either make me too yellow/orange or too white so i usually rely on my own opinion and ALWAYS check in natural lighting to see if it still matches
