Well here's my problem...I can never seem to apply mascara properly to my bottom lashes a) because they are so thin and b) because there are not many of them

So does anyone know the correct technique or any tips on how to do this without them looking clumpy and smudging all over the lower eye area??

a lot of ppl don't use mascara on their bottom lashes but anyhoo since you want to you're suppose to hold the brush vertically and apply

Always apply mascara to your bottom lashes first, look up, place the brush at the top of the lashes and make only one down wards stroke. repeat maybe once but never more than 3 times cause thats when it starts looking clumpy.

Sweettooth

I use it on my bottom ones and find they look much longer and nicer than my top ones.. prob cos they haven't been abused in the same way with false lashes, extensions etc..

Ah I see, I will have to try these! And yeah maybe a smaller mascara wand would help. Mine are soo fine that they even stick to my eye! Urgh!

How about putting some fake individual lashes on the bottom lashes of yours?

Use the tip of the mascara brush, put it vertically and swipe across the bottom eyelashes. Make sure the tip of the mascara doesn't have too much mascara on it. Just lightly do that twice or so until you feel it looks nice enough.

Try a mascara that has a special lengthening and volumising base coat that you then go over with the black mascara - try maybelline xxl volume mascara, I have used this in the past and highly recommend it. It extends and intensifies the lashes and will help bring out the small lashes you have on your bottom lashline!

There was a time that I had lash extensions put on.....they are great.....they are individual and can be found in different lengths.

I loved them!!! But they did tend to shed quite frequently and I didn't fancy the idea of having them refilled every month or so.

The individual ones available at drug stores seem to be a good option but I will probably need to practice a bit before they will look natural.

Anyone tried it?

Don't know if it sounds weird but, when I apply mascara on my bottom lashes, I pick a tissue papper and place it under my lashes then I apply the mascara.

And after about 15 to 30 seconds I take the tissue off and Tadaaa it's done =) It's really simple and easy to do.

==> I use Estιe Lauder's Projectionist and it's just AWESOME !!

Thanks for the suggestions girls! I've just had a look on youtube for demo's of applying falsies on the bottom and they can look great! I didn't even know they existed lol but I think I might just give it a go I'll just have to be careful not to poke myself in the eye as I've never applied false lashes in my LIFE!! Lol.

I like this girl's finished look:
