Dear Administrator,
I have posted in two threads which were older than one year. My posts got deleted by the moderator and he said that no one is allowed to revive threads older than one year.
Any forum has this rule that if the administrator doesn't with anyone to post in a thread anymore, then that thread is locked.
My advice is to you that you block all those threads which are older than one year so that the users of this forum could have convenience. Else it would be illogical to keep it accessible and yet stop the users also that don't post after they post.

This forum has been around for 10 years. Over the years, there have been hundreds, if not thousands of threads. Each day atleast 20 threads are opened. This way it isn't feasible to lock every single one of the threads, as moderators have other responsibilities. At the same time, it is unfair to the original starter of the thread that we lock the thread for no reason, as the threads that are locked at the moment are ones that break the rules or similar.
The moderators are doing their jobs, and it is the responsibility of you, the user, to familiarize yourself with the rules and regulations of the place, instead of making a big deal of nothing. If you wish to discuss about a topic that is old, then by all means start another thread.

Sipraomer, thanks for opening this thread and giving your feedback. I will review the policy of bumping up the old threads with the team and keep your suggestions in consideration. Instead of closing the threads, it might be that we need to relax our policies about reviving the old threads

Well I would say on that , locking a thread doesn't mean deleting a thread. What I mean is that post option should be deleted from that thread. That was I saying. If moderators can delete posts then they can also lock the threads. I think it isn't a big deal.

yes I think they should be.
cause threads with exactly the same are opened again it would be better to have old threads rather than a new one on the same topic.
The mods can simple merge both the threads.
moreover it gives new members a chance to see what/how GS was back then.

To be honest its a strange policy, why cant member bump up old threads? I dont see any good reason behind it.
I am a member of other Pak forums too and none of those forums have such rules.
Bumping up old thread should be allowed, it brings back old memories

Every policy has a reason behind it. It may no longer be justified or may not be applicable in every situation but there is always a valid reason for any of our policies.
CAFE old threads, when bumped up usually offer every less value as people sometimes bump up an old thread just by posting smilies. Moderators evry rightfully remove the last post and send the thread back to archives.
Moderators are going to look at the threads on case to case basis from now on and if the new post is relevant and can indeed re-spark an old discussion then that thread can remain current.
