Folks:
We were under denial of service attack this morning (US time). It took the ISP and security folks quite some work to isolate the attacking IPs and get things back on track.

DOS attack is not as intrusive as "hacking" though very dangerous for the business transactions, specially when each "hit" on the page can be translated into money both quantitatively or qualitatively. What it does is to bleed the server to practical "halt" thus forcing it to stops serving legitimate requests while dealing with fake "load".
