These instructions will resolve the issue of having to enter your userid and password again and again, while posting on GUPSHUP. The following is for Internet Explorer users. If you have a different browser, and are facing this problem, or, if you are still facing this or any other technical problem, please send an email to support@pak.org.

  1. In Internet Explorer version 5.5 or higher: at your browser window, click on "Tools", then "Internet Options".

    click above

Now click on the "General" tab. In this window, clear the history and delete all the temporary internet files. Delete the cookies as well.

The image below depicts the areas where you have to click.

    click above
Once you have finished this, click on "OK".

Re-click on "Tools", then "Internet Options", then the "General" tab. Depending upon the particular versions of Windows and Internet Explorer your computer is utilizing, you may see an option titled "Settings..." under "Temporary Internet files".

    click above

Click on "Settings..." It will now offer you a choice of whether you want to "Check for newer versions of stored pages". Click on the option titled "Every visit to the page", then "OK".

    click above

Subsequent to completing the above, close all of your browser windows. Open a new browser window, and check to see whether you are able to post on Gupshup without experiencing any of your previous problems. If yes, then your computer's settings have been satisfactorily fixed; if not, then proceed to the next step (please follow each step one-by-one):
  2. Compatible with Windows 2000, for Internet Explorer users: click on "Tools", then "Internet Options".

Now click on the "Security" tab (it may also be titled the "Privacy" tab). Depending upon the type of version of Windows you are running (98/2000/XP), as well as your computer's version of Internet Explorer, you may see an option labelled along the lines of "Trusted Sites" (or "Safe Sites"). Highlight this, then click on "Sites...".

    click above

In this window, you will be allowed to add the names of websites that you want to enable cookies for. Add in EACH of the following websites exactly as they appear here: http://www.pak.org ... http://www.gupshup.org ... http://www.gupistan.com Click on "OK".

Click on "Tools", and then "Internet Options" again. Re-click on the "Security" (or "Privacy") tab, but this time highlight "Restricted Sites". Now click on "Sites..." In this window, make sure that you have NONE of the above Gupshup websites listed in the 'restricted section'. In the image below in the section where the arrow is pointing, there should be no Gupshup-related URLs listed. If there are, then highlight the particular URL, and click on "Remove".

No Gupshup-related URLs should be listed here:

    click above

If the above does not work, try the next step:

  1. To the lower right-hand corner of your screen, check to see whether or not you see a very small icon of a tiny red padlock, or tiny red stop sign, on your Status Bar. The image below indicates the approximate area on your screen where this tiny icon shoud be located (note that, it may not be visible on some computers, but is usually visible on publically-accessible computers such as those located in universities, etc.). As the following image was taken from a home computer, the red icon does not show up in this image, but it indicates the approximate spot on your Status Bar where it should be located.

    click above

If you see this icon, double-click it; it will allow you to alter the settings for websites by giving you an option of setting the particular level of security you wish to have on that computer. Set the security level to "Accept/Enable all cookies".
  2. On your computer, open up the "Control Panel" section. (First click on "Start", then "Settings", then "Control Panel").

    click above
(Note: you will have to do multiple steps ahead, so, to save yourself some time, do not exit from this "Control Panel" section until stated to do so).

Click on "Internet Options", then on the "Advanced" tab. In all of the listed options available, check carefully to see whether you have any options ticked off that prevent your computer from accepting cookies. Once you have verified this, click on "OK".

Now re-open the "Internet Options" window again. This time, click on the "Security" (or "Privacy" tab). (You are going to follow the exact same procedure you followed in step II). You may see an option labelled along the lines of "Trusted Sites" (or "Safe Sites"). Highlight this, then click on "Sites...".

    click above

In this window, you will be allowed to add the names of websites that you want to enable cookies for. Add in EACH of the following websites exactly as they appear here: http://www.pak.org ... http://www.gupshup.org ... http://www.gupistan.com Click "OK".

For the third time, re-open the "Internet Options" window (in the "Control Panel" section). Click again on the "Security" (or "Privacy" tab), then click on where it states "Restricted Sites". Now click on "Sites..." In this window, make sure that you have no Gupshup websites listed in the 'restricted section'. If there are any, simply highlight them and click on "Remove".

    click above
Then click on "OK", and you may now exit the "Control Panel" section.

  3. Close all your browswer windows, and open a new browser window. Once you are at the Gupshup website, please check whether or not you are able to post without the previous cookies problem.
