I think I broke a toe in my left foot. It's bruised, swollen and painful to move. I have been told that people have run marathons with broken toes and they were fine. I have also been advised to elevate the foot a few times a day and take some aspirin. I don't give two whits about the pain, it's the impedance to my mobility that's bothering me! I can't shift my body weight, change directions quickly, or bend my foot.

Has this ever happened to you? How long did it take to heal? Any shortcuts?

No X-ray yet. I don't think I want to go to the ER for my little toe. So I can't tell if it's a bone fracture but it's badly bruised.

I'll see if I can muster enough courage to take a foto using my digi cam.

Well, even though its a little toe it doesn't mean that there cannot be a big problem. My small toe was purple and bruised as well caz i happened to slip in the patio, so I went to the hospital the same day and it was dislocated a doctor had to tug and pull on it to put it back in place .. I know VERY painful but good thing i was injected with pain medication prior to all that ...

Well u should get it checked if you want to !

depends where did u break it at. if its just bruised and swollen... put some anti bacterial spray on it and bandaid.

if the bones broken... which i doubt here cos it would hurt a lot. u might still need to get a bandaid but from a doctor after an xray and they might put a hard casing around all of ur foot.

Acha. Mine doesn't look displaced, contorted or protruding in anyway. Khair, swelling went down a bit.

Very unwise thing to do. It could be a bone fracture and delying it like this is stupid. In school, my right foot's toe was bruised cz I hit it hard on a footpath. The bone was not fractured just the flesh. But it took more than two weeks to cure as I recall now. It was badly swollen and had lots of pain. Even walking used to cause pain and worsen the condition.

I just can't get myself to go to the ER. It could take hours before someone sees me. What this world needs are doctors-on-wheels -- One phone call and they are at your house.

Tonight I did my usual uchal koodh withoug feeling too much pain; I guess the toe is closed to being completely healed. The healing process took over a month.

The swelling & some bruising is still there and bone is uneven unlike the toe in the other foot.
