How many of you workout during Ramadan (before, after or during fast)?
I think it's useless to work out during ramadan because you are not fueling your body with essential vitamins, minerals, etc. Perhaps it's ok to do something low impact like walking or pilates/yoga....I just dont have the energy nor the time to do it. So I usually skip working out during the month of Ramadan.

We have what, less than a month left now. Ramadan motivation have started early...
For complete workouts including your body-building routines, it might be beneficial to do it an hour after sehri, or an hour after iftaar. You could also take ~50g of protein shake before you go to sleep, and go work out after sehri, so you have an adequate supply of proteins in your body.
All up to an individual.

No, I can't possibly work out during Ramadan. Can't seem to fit it in. I would be too thirsty, and I just am too lazy to wake up 1 hour before sehri!

And no searching for new posts during Ramadan, either. We don't want to see the Wedding forum pop up every time in the search results. It will distract you from properly fasting.

I had the same question on my mind last night...So maybe the fasting is enough. DO any of you lose weight in Ramzan??

i have no energy during ramadan to work out... i'll just focus on drinking lots of water at sehri and iftari, and eating super healthy.

same here niksik. I'll feel too weak and have lack of energy to workout.

that's not a bad idea...pushups work out many muscles in your body and it's not time consuming either....that along with some crunches may just be a nice routine during ramadan.

Some people lose, some people gain and others remain the same...it really depends on what you are eating.

I am usually the same way except during ramadan. I'm too tired and it's difficult to fit it in before fajr and def after iftar...after iftar it's ibaddat time for me and for most people.

although I always say the same thing @ eating healthy then when I see all the yummy samosas and pakoras....that thought goes down the drain.

Moi agrees. I will have to do it after iftaari too but take it easy on the resistance training.

Almost all my time go to ibadaat during ramadan, but I see no reason why I should stop working out when it's 1 hour a day. In fact working out contributes with lots of energy and focus.

Depending on where you live it should still be warm(ish) so going for a walk after iftari is good.

I worked out during Ramada last year and I survived. I plan to do it this year again, but it'll be light workout (arms only) because fasts will be longer this year.

the rule can be, getting up early early in the morning and doing exercise before sehri or during the afternoon at least 4 hrs before the fast is broken.
fasting and exercise are possible together. regularity in following a set right time is the key.
Be open to new experiences because sometimes, reason is beyond comprehension.

^ not if you're trying to put on muscle mass. You need to eat atleast 4/5 times a day, which isnt possible when ure fasting. Infact, it'll result in opposite.. and ure body will go in catabolic state if not given nutrition after work out.. But, if u wana lose weight.. go right ahead with fasting and work out.
and no, one shud not workout atleast 4 hrs before iftaari.. 4 hours is still a long wait.. if u dont give any nutrition especially protein within an hour of ur workout.. your body doesnt really grow and ur workout goes into waste..
its best to avoid heavy lifting during ramadan and after ramadan get urself a protein shake.. and im pretty sure ull go back to gym more stronger and focused.
ps: it is recommended to take a complete break from intense weight lifting for a week or so , after continuously lifting for more than 2 months.

workout is good but during fasting days one should just invest the time in doing other less intensive activities, or work in and around home.
post workout meal is very important, otherwise a person is not jiust risking nausea and headache, but a severe risk of damaging the under-nutritioned musles and tissues.
also, it can have very harmful affect on critical organs, hence one should avoid heavy workout during ramdan or during any day of fasting in general.
It is like running the car on low or no gas, sooner than later it will give up, and it may just be in middle of high speed expressway leading to an unimmaginable and unforgiveable incident.
same with human body, you may be big and strong, but without proper meal post workout, your body may just run out of its strength and you lose your balance .

I've done some intense workouts after Iftaar, and to be honest it wasn't that bad! I wasn't feeling tired or sick. I think if you can balance it out, you should be fine.
I dont know about gaining Muscle, but for everyday cardio and weight loss, it works! Fasting is an added bonus in my opinion.
People look at fasting as a burden, something that will deprive you of health and strength. I like to think otherwise, its very uplifting and makes you feel clean and strong (atleast spiritually).
