I'm not questioning your source of info or the accuracy of it, but i've never heard of tampons getting stuck and being removed by a medical professional. The opening of the cervix is very narrow, so a tampon could not travel further up towards the uterus and get lost in no-mans-land. Furthermore, if the string were to break off, the body would eventually eject the tampon itself when it reaches full saturation...

But i guess these things still happen eh...

^ Lol at no man's land. Yeah I guess they do. I don't remember the exact details but it did happen. My friend who witnessed this uses tampons but to this day I am scared because of this incident.

This reminds me of another ER incident but I guess GS administration would def. kick me out if I mentioned that.

Doh

So if you have to remove and change a tampon every few hours to avoid infections etc. what do people do at night if they don't wake up?

Sunshine

iv always used pads, even before i got married, and have to say i HATE it.

But i have never used tampons and to be honest im quite scared to use them.

why? because im scared it might get stuck!! like a girl said before me i have heard of some girls of having to go hospital to have it removed!

So really i dont wanna take that risk, and as it is i get very heavy periods so im stuck with pads i guess!

I've been using tampons for past 3 years, and im SO glad that I am. I can never go back to pads again. Tampon doesn't feel like anythign at all. Like you totally forget you're on your periods, unlike pads which keeps remindng you every second that you are bleeding! You can sleep in peace, run, excersice, wear white pants. No leaks, nothing. I would recommend all the ladies to just try it once.
And you dont have to change it every few hours, usualy after 8 hours. But i always sleep for atleast 10 hours and nothing happened. TSS is very rare. Almost everyone i know wears tampon and so far i havn't personally heard of a TSS case.

And it never gets stuck! Even if the string comes off which is very unlikely unless you're using some really super cheap tampon that has been sitting on the shelf for many years, the string will NOT break. And if it does, you can still manage to take it out at manually.
Most american women use tampons, if they were so scary and dangerous i doubt they would be using it

I agree with bebo, the first two days pads, tampons after that. Whether you are married or not, makes no difference. Hotter the climate you live in, more careful you should be about using tampons.

^ u should try to change them every 5 hrs or so. Its ok to leave them in for up to 8 hrs too.
U can actually buy tampons that can be worn for up to 8 hrs. U use ur instinct abt knowing when its full. Obviously, if u dont change it for like 10 hrs it is full but yea, after abt 6 hrs it should be full and should be changed.

I have been using tampons for over a year now and I can NEVER go back on using pads! When I started using them I hated myself for putting myself thru all the torture with pads for all those years. I actually don't care abt getting period now (thank God for tampons).

I am not married and honestly, there is NOTHING wrong with un-married girls using them. When I tell some desi girls that I use them, they get all paranoid abt losing "it" and stuff... =/. Tampons have NOTHING to do with that and its completely YOUR choice. U shouldn't have to worry abt others, and really, we're in the 21st century...wat r the chances that ur life will be ruined cuz u didnt bleed the first time...so don't sweat it girls! give them a try if they work for u (which im SURE they will), then stick to them, if not then back to pads. Don't let stupid ppl's comments stop u from using whats comfortable for YOU!

p,s: they DO NOT get lost, stuck etc etc inside of u.

=)

Ok this might be too much information but seriously tampons are much thinner than the male organ resposible breaking the hymen. So im sure even the super plus tampons don't really "break" the hymen completely..

Your welcome 2gd2btrue .

Suhaina, If u find tampons painful, then there could be several reasons.
1) ur not inserting it properly. (If inserted properly, u should NOT be able to feel the tampon AT ALL). If u feel uncomfortable then take that one out and try again with a new one.
2) You r not relaxed. You need to stay relaxed while inserting the tampon because if u don't, u will feel pain (mostly cuz its all in ur head).
3) u need to be ON your period for a tampon to go in properly or it will hurt/feel uncomfortable. It might be that its one of ur lighter days so for that just go for a thin pad.

Bookworm

just wanted to echo the sentiments that have already been expressed......

if you can feel the tampon then you haven't inserted far enough.....read the detailed instructions and look at the diagram......follow it to the letter......don't be afraid.

not only does the tampon feel much cleaner.......disposal is so much easier.......flush it all away....including the applicator if you use the cardboard ones.....and nobody is ever the wiser to your cycle.
