So do any of you get muscle cramps a day or two after you've worked out? I usually work out 2-3 times a week (running, elliptical and some stretching) just to remain healthy, and the last one was day before yesterday. All day yesterday I didn't have any pain or cramping. This morning I woke up with BAD leg cramps (my poor gastrocneamius) that I thought would go away but it was there all day and now its night. I can't walk properly or put my weight on the right leg at all, left is not as bad though.
I have taken two advils, thinking it might be an inflamed tendon. I just don't get why it appeared out of nowhere?

I have few questions.
Suppose you one week u did work out only twice.
What would it be?
running, elliptical ? Would duration of the running, elliptical be exactly the same.
If you do work out twice/once a week do you feel lethargic next day? Slow response to every thing... and more time solving problems?
answer ASAP so I can share my experience going through same thing.. and how i fixed it.

I usually run for about 15-20 min (3 min runs with 2 min brisk walks) and elliptical for ~20 minutes as well. Stretching afterwards ~20-30 minutes. And no, I'm never lethargic afterwards, usually feel better and more energized. Have never had slow responses etc. What exactly were you thinking of?
I took advils every 4 hrs for 2 days, its better today. I think I should do some light exercise instead of going to gym for now, yeah?

Hmm I did it for long time I use to do really heavy work out once a weak and after 72 a relative light workout. I thought I was maintaining the shape.
But it was making me so lethargic it was like a step short from intoxicating my self with work out. Next day from heavy work out I used to be dead slow. Not able think as sharp as I normally do. etc etc.
Then I got some equipment at home and I reduce intensity plus I made work out more frequent.
Now i lift weight 4 times a week and run 5 times a week. Like I said I did step back to make it less intense at first but now I am lifting more weight and running more too. plus I am more relaxed during the day.
So try doing it. make it more frequent like at least 4 time at max 5-6 times a week.
If any analogy.. I can think of 2 levels. one which make us keep the minimum shape to perform work out.
Two which make us relax and enable to do things in best possible manner.
So to me you are getting to level one. once you work out more often you will be on leel two. Hece more less issues.

I see what you mean, thanks Monk!
I think for now I'll modify it to two days stretching and some stationary running at home and two days full workout at gym- living in the dorm so I don't have any personal equipment, this will have to do until I get home.

PSquared-It's an inflamed tendon/contracted muscle in my calf, I can feel it. And I have never felt this kind of pain before, even though I have been working out for a while now.
