anyone know how to cook it?....the one thats dark brown with lots of piste and nuts in........the one u get in the mathai wale box mein.......its soft...dont like it hard....

Sohan Halwa

Sahiwal's famous dessert
Ingredients:
1.2 kg sugar
1/2 kg cornflour or maida.
1/4 kg almonds
100 grams pistachio
50 grams cardamom, green (illachi)
1/2 kg ghee
1 cup milk
2 liter water
1 teaspoon saffron

How to Cook:
1. Heat 1of litter water, add sugar and boil for 5 minutes. Add 1 cup milk and boil for 5 minutes. Strain it through a muslin bag or thin cloth.
2. Dissolve the cornflour in a little water. Add the remaining water and sugar syrup.
3. Dissolve 1 tsp. Saffron in warm water. Add to the cornflour mixture and cook over low flame. When cornflour becomes thick , add 1 tbsp ghee . Continue adding Ghee ( 1/2 Kg) slowly during cooking to prevent it from sticking to the pan . Stir it well .
4. As Ghee separates from the mixture. Then it is ready. Add almonds , Pistachio & green Ilachi in it.
5. Grease a pan or tray with oil . Spread Halwa in it & press with a wooden spoon to flatten it.
6. Garnish it with almonds, pistachio and cardamoms. As it cools down, cut it into pieces and serve.


This recipe serves 6 people.
Preparation Time: 15 minutes.
Cooking Time: 30 minutes.

~Tikhi Jalebi~ thanx yaar.....but thats the hard hulwa u get in the shops.....im talking about the hulwa thats ummmm like this mithai...

aik tau mujhe uska naam ni na aata..........its my favourite u see......ummmm...aub kaise sumjhaoun....ya kaise describe kuroun....

can anyone help me?...

its not what tikhi was talking about?

r u sure u rn't talking about HABSHEE HALWA its soft and as u said its brown with some nuts on top...and it is the yummiest halwa it kinda tastes like a mix of barfi and caramel yeh and its texture is a bit chewy toffee like, not like barfi and gulabjaman...yeah?

search on google for habshi halwa and see pics
