I n g r e d i e n t s

Jumbo prawns 6 pcs.

Olive oil 2 tsp.

Chopped basil 1 tsp.

Mustard 1/4 tsp.

Lemon juice 1 tsp.

Salt and pepper to taste

For sauce:

Lemon juice 1tbs.

Melted liquid butter 50 gms.

Sweet Thai Chilli sauce 6 tsp.

For serving and garnishing:

Mashed potatoes 30 gms.

Beetroot in crisps 2 tbs.

M e t h o d

Marinate the prawns for half an hour with olive oil, chopped basil, mustard, lemon juice, salt and pepper. Prepare the sauce by mixing together the melted liquid butter with Sweet Thai Chilli sauce and lemon juice. In the ingredients, it's mentioned that lemon juice is one tbs. - note here that originally you must take half a cup of lemon juice and then boil it till it's reduced only to one tbs. This adds a certain tang to the sauce. Now grill the marinated prawns thoroughly for three to four minutes. Serve these hot sizzling prawns on a heap of soft mashed potatoes; pour butter sauce on top of it and garnish with thin crisps of beetroot. If you like to add a little extra colour, then heap some coloured fried noodles on top of your delectable tower of 'Grilled jumbo prawns'.

Note: The quantity of these ingredients makes this main-course-meal for one person.

M. Ibrahim and M. Nawaz

Typical oily and fried cuisine marks the month of Ramadan but You! is 'pro-healthy' and throughout this period of fasting, recipes have been arranged to keep the 'health-factor' in mind. Seafood is a healthy alternative and Mohammed Nawaz, senior sous chef of Pearl Continental Hotel, Karachi, brings an easy-to-prepare, delicious recipe of jumbo prawns. This is a typical Caribbean dish and sure to delight seafood enthusiasts.

^ you know I dont know. Maybe they are. They're just really large, is all I know. We dong have King Prawns in Miami, so maybe they are different names for the same thing.

I think I'm going to play with these seafood recipes off jang this weekend. If my mother lets me into the kitchen

The Aftermath:

So...I didn't have a grill, so I barbequed the shrimp instead. And I didn't have Jumbo shrimp, so I used plain little ones.

Result: We bit into the shrimp, and the shrimp bit right back.

What I mean to say is that the taste was awfully strong. I concentrated the lemon juice as described in the recipe, and well - lets just say - don't ever do that if you plan on following this recipe.

My response was lukewarm to it. I think jumbo shrimp might have worked better because you would taste more of the shrimp than the sauce, as oppose to little shrimp.

At any rate, my sister loved it. My father liked it too. My mother and I were somewhat repulsed.

Ah, but well - this was my first attempt at cooking. At least it was something adventurous.
