It's called Porridge by Brits and Oat-meal by Americans.
The best Oat-meal is old fashioned one which you boil in water and eat w/out sugar or milk. It's a tasteless meal but extremely healthy for you. It comprises of low-glyemic or slow-burning carbs which fuel your body all day long. Highly recommended.

yup oatmeal is high in fibre..and fibre is much needed in the balanced diet..you can get those breakfast pouches of oatmeal..those are a bit sweet..you stir some water and microwave it..they come in cinnamon, apple and 2/3 other flavours. One of my ex-colleagues used to eat those at work..so, just to try them out..i got the mixed flavoured box with 6 pouches. Maybe, you can try just one flavour and it could be in small packing. Some people bake oatmeal honey energy bars etc to use as snack.
I personally like oatmeal in cookies form or namkeen form...not the methi dalia form..
This is what i do..i take leftover daal..add some oatmeal, water, spices, corriander/green chilly etc to it..and then add chicken or qeema or beef (whatever is leftover) and cook it for 3/4 minutes..it used to turn out like haleem..I used to give this fake haleem to ammi for lunch few years ago when she was losing weight because of diabetes.

Porridge is quite nice to eat once you get over it's appearance. It always reminds me of wallpaper paste.

TNWB, by leftover i meant what you cook in evening/night time can be reused next day for lunch..i didn't mean to collect food for days..if that's what you thought.
khawateen, i am not sure about shola khichri..it was something i experimented once..i have heard the name of shola..isn't that more along the lines of naulakha..where they also add roti pieces as well.

Dalla is the Marketing manager for Prostitute(s)
And guess what, Last nite I went home and my younger brother had already made that dalya in chicken. It was so dillicious . All four of us ate whole meal which was enough for 6 ppl.
Now i know how/why Goldlilocks ate the porridge of Papa bear, mama bear and baby bear and went to sleep.
I can eat 3 ppl's porridge in one go too
