I was raised to put as much as I need in my plate and always eat it all. i.e. clean it up. Leaving food behind (or in other words wasting it) was nashukri. But licking it clean was also a no no, no matter how delicious the food was, according to some hadiths.
Now, this experience has caused me problems visiting restaurants where the platter is too big for my appetite. The food is generally not that great to get it boxed and even if I do get it boxed it ends up spoiled in the fridge.
Do you guys leave food behind or eat it all?
I know that you believe that you understood what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

depends if it's good, yes, if it's not, then no!

The whole clearing your plate thing leads to weight gain and bad eating habits; even if you're not hungry, you feel compelled to finish all of it anyway, all thsoe extra unnecessary calories we don't need..
However, I DO feel really guilty leaving food behind or putting it away esp if it's delicious.....it's a hard habit to break...if it's at home, it's no problem, I just put it away and eat it later; if it's at someone's house, I put just a lil bit on my plate, go back for maybe seconds or even thirds, less each time... at a restaurant, I get it boxed..
