Well if its canned chole then you are better off boiling it. Now it all depends how you want to eat it, there is chaat then there are cholay that you kind of cook it.
I normally add tomatoe paste, red chillie powder, salt to taste, chilli sauce, and if you want green pepper, lil bit of tamarind water.
Drain the water from the can and put lil bit of water in the pot and add the chickpeas in it and add everything that was mentioned above. Now boil some potatoes in another pot.
You can remove the cholay pot from the stove when you feel that they are soft enough and all the ingredients are mixed and there is not much water left or no water left. Now put them in a bowl.
Make cubes out of boiled potatoes, cubes of one or two tomatoes, and add them on top of the cholay bowl. If you want you can add chips on it as well, as some ppl like to eat it with chips. Last touch will be adding chaat masala on top.
I end up making poris with it.
Depending on the perspective, everything is beautiful!!

depends how many ppl there are
for 5 ppl one can of chickpeas is fine
add 4 to 5 spoon of tomatoe sauce
one spoon of red chilli powder
salt to taste
3 spoon chilli sauce (you can add it later too, when u eating to adjust the taste)
3 potatoes
3 green pepper(chop them)
4 spoon of lemon juice
Boil the chickpeas with half cup of water and add all the above ingredientes and stir it so it gets mixed. Now in another pot put all the potatoes in water and boil them till they become soft.
Check to see if chickpeas are soft and the all the water has been dried (or very lil amount of water is left). Remove it from the stove and follow my above post's direction.
I am sure they will be really tasty.
If you need anymore help feel free to ask me
