My head is starting to spin at the variety of shalwars this season. Since many of you ladies are so aware of these things, I thought we should start a list of the various types with their descriptions and pictures, if possible.

1. Patiala shalwar
2. Afghani shalwar
3. Dhoti shalwar
4. Double-gher shalwar
5. Butterfly shalwar

Feel free to continue the list

Now can someone please educate me to the differences between a patiala, afghani, butterfly and dhoti shalwar? They all seem so similar to me...

I thought afghani had the pleats in the paincha and up the shilwar, Patyalla has TONS more pleats and more fabric.

Actually if I recall correctly from my shopping in pakistan a few weeks back, the shalvar you're stating as Afghani is patialla and vice versa.
