What should I make? I can only make biryani, really messy chicken ka salan, aloo kee bhujia, and red beans. It needs to be taken to and consumed at the hospital. By the way, the woman had a double hernia operation, I don't know dietary restrictions but this is for her family too. Please provide recipes. Thanks.

Chicken Yakhni is your best bet. It's simple and easy to make.
Some chicken pieces, may be 1 lb. - darker the meat the better
4 to five big garlic cloves WHOLE
1 table spoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder (haldi); 1/2 tspn salt
Add oil to pot and turn the stove to medium
Add all the remaining ingredients including the washed up chicken and stir fry for 1 minute.
Add 6 cups of water, cover and cook on medium high for 30 minutes.
When taking it to the hospital, pour Yakhni in a thermos and the chicken pieces wrapped in aluminum foil. Sprinkle some black crsuhed peppers.

What about her husband? I am desi through and through and feeling massive guilt for the "becharay shohar" who has been left to fend for himself in the kitchen. I can't make my usual because they send my sister to the bathroom, I don't want him to land in the hospital too.

SS - feeling for the shohar? I say let him turn this into an opportunity to learn how to fry an egg. Why are desi husbands so incompetent...or may be they just pretend to be. It's a fashion in our society for men to say, " I don't know anything in the kitchen"
Minerva- you need to open up a little too, you know.
