You may have to stop her cold turkey and try to comfort her some other way (music from a mobile, a blankie when she's a bit older). Unfortunately, she'll cry for a week, but it's better to break this habit now.

Is she likes one kind then change it to different one.
or cut the tip of it.
Someone used salton it, baby did not like it and quit.
cutting the tip worked for me.

Your little one is only 3 months old. It isnt such a bad thing to use a pacifier/soother and there are studies that have shown it can decrease the incidence of SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome). After their first birthday is really the best time to break the habit as their need to suck is less intense. All 3 of mine had pacifiers and all 3 gave them up without too much fuss. But during the time that they used it, it was very comforting to them.

i don't remember the exact age group..but my son wanted something in his mouth all the time...i think he was too young...doctor actually suggested to use pacifier...and just like mama's sons...my son found it soothing. Mine wasn't using it much though...and after one or two months...the habit stopped. So, i would say that don't worry...with time your daughter will come out of that stage.

Actually my husband told me to get rid of that habit, the habit of pacifier cause thickness of lips and the front teeth become large etc, so thats why I am afraid.

Pacifiers actually help babies with colic and gas and its not really that bad a thing ask your doctor. Just wean the baby off slowly.

Pacifiers in no way can cause thickness of lips (I wonder where he got that idea) but if they COULD, I;d start using one meself cause thick lips (ala Angelina Jolie are just THE THING, you know?)
And the old wives tale that it causes buck teeth are unfounded, just google it (sorry I dont have the time or patience right now).
Fact is, the benefits of using a pacifier in the first year far outweigh any detrimental effects it may have....another benefit that hasnt yet been mentioned is the help it gives to colicky and reflux babies. When using the paci, they produce more saliva which soothes the acid in their tummies.
I say in the first year, thank GOODness for pacis!!

If the mom boils it every now and again it will be fine for a while but always needs checking. they break down after a while and get brittle so that small peices of the rubbery part can break off. At the first sight of cracks in the nipple, it should be discarded for a new one.

Pacifiers or sucking fingers is quite ok for at least the first year...and possibly even bit longer. I hate pacifiers myself, but my daughter took to sucking her thumb when she was 3 months old. Now after 2 and 1/2 she was still taking it and the sucking was becoming vigorous. So one nite I just removed the thumb from her and she got angry with me (still in her sleep) and yelled You! Ami! I kept holding the thumb and carried her and whispered to her you are not a baby anymore you do not need the thumb anymore...the kids in school dont suck thumb. She fell asleep and an hour later she put it back in and I did the same thing over again. Now I think I kind of hypnotised her cos the next nite when she felt like sucking her thumb I reminded her again and she told me to hold her hand (so that she does not take the thumb) It has taken few weeks of this sort of thing but phew she is finally off the habit!
