If u want to eat them as part of a english-style meal, u shuld steam them with pinch of salt and then if required add knob of butter.
Whereas, they taste gorgeous if u make a normal masala (as you would for a vegetable curry, consisting of tomatoes, oil, ginger, red chilli powder, salt, turmeric, etc) and then add brussel sprouts (thickly chopped or whole) with cubes of potatoes.....yummy!!!!

they're yummy when grilled/oven-baked after being drizzled in olive oil.....let them get a bit charred and they taste delicious that way.

Zap them in the microwave for a few minutes with a minute quantity of water. Saute them in olive oil/butter. Cover and let them steam in the skillet. Salt to taste. They get nutty tasting and melt in your mouth.

I made this today
Peel top layer and cut a cross on the base.. means that every thing is cooked rather than having a really solid stemmy bit
Olive oil or butter in a pan and add. mustard seeds.. when the mustard seeds start popping add 1/2 teaspoon salt and add cumin seeds and garlic.. add bruseel sprouts and cook for 2/3 minutes until the sprouts are coated..
add 1 tbspoon of water and stir..
put a lid on the pan and let them cook int he steam for 10 minutes until tender.. You can add mustard (colemans) for a spicy taste..halfway through the cooking if you wish
yeah but no but yeah but...

th other day mum just popped them in the pressure cooker with cut up tomatoes and baby carrots + salt/pepper. the liquid from the tomatoes and sprouts themselves was enough to cook them up. i think she just left them for a couple of mins and they tasted pretty good.

i never boil them...if they are frozen, run them under water, cut them in halves or quarters, kind of stir fry them, sprinkle salt and peper, eat with pasta or rice or baked fish, chicken or whatever.
