So last year after Ramadhan I ended up gaining 10-12 lbs and feeling awful about myself.
During Shehri and Iftaar when I am starving I don't care what I am gonna eat, I will eat whatever is there. And that includes from parathes to pakorey and all wonderful things
It is about controlling and eating right. I cannot stay just on salad and a piece of chicken like some poeple can. What to eat in shehri which can keep you full? How many times do you eat after Iftaar? You barely have 3 hours after breaking roza before you could go to sleep. Do you walk or exercise after breaking roza? What is the best way??

lean protein, whole grains will be the key for sehri.
for iftaar, dont eat a lot, dont eat very heavy fried stuff like pakoray samosay etc.
eat a little bit later as well.

^ I have the same problem and living on my own is even tougher. So,last ramadan basically I ended up eating pizza for sehri pizza for iftari. It wasnt healthy but on a side for iftari I had salad n some fruit as well.
I also drink badaam milk every morning - that helps as well.

Diversity. Don't just eat one thing, like paratha unda for sehri and pakoray for aftar. Mix it up! One day cereal for sehri, the next day paratha, the next just regular left over daal chawal.

same prob as urs. Lets see how this ramadaaN goes ...
For sehri: 2 boiled eggs and a glass of shake/milk - prefer banana + strawberry shake
Iftari: break fast with 2/3 Dates n bottle of water. Then goes right for dinner instead of eating all the oily food n spicey food. I definitely need rice either with chicken breast n some fried veggies or salmon. After thats done - since need to stay up late to study .. munch on some almonds n then later fruits such as apple/strawberries n plums. And if again im hungry - trust me studyin makes u hungry more than u want to be - end up making tuna salad out of one can n enjoy it
Thats how I planned for RamadaaN - don't forget at least 2 Liters of water everyday. We lil ones tend to get dehydrated more often

I tend to lose weight as well. So this year I will actually try eating for a change! this morning i had a protein shake, 2 boiled egg whites, a banana and a slice of wheat toast with honey. I didnt want to eat but I forced myself Hopefully I can stick with a high protein diet so that I dont lose any weight this time. Let's see what happens at iftari time.
going back to the topic....
I would simply avoid eating iftari and go straight to eating dinner....try to avoid over eating. It's best to eat a little bit and then eat again a couple hrs later. Make sure you eat a high protein diet during sehri time....that will keep you full for a longer period of time.

Last Ramadan I lost so much weight, i cudnt believe it. But that was only bcoz i wasnt living at home and ate basically nothing for either sehri or iftar.
But I am completely depending on ramadan this year to help me lose weight. But as I am not as stressed because of school as i ws last year, i feel like eating a bunch at both sehri and iftar

there is so much you can do with a bagel. try making scrambled eggs and putting it in a toasted bagel....tastes yummm!
but like i mentioned above...you want to stay full...eat a high protei diet......or make some shakes and add protein powder to it. It will keep you full for most of the day.

hi Jal_pari,
simple food, less prepared and natural in form is better than over cooked, and spicy / fried or sweet dishes.
fruits, nuts, salads, and boiled or smoked fish. shrimp with beans, cereal, cottage cheese, is better and nutritious.
even when we make salan and shorba (curry), prep methods can have a lot of positive change.
for snacks, simple fruit with little ice cream in summer, and kashmiri chai, or firni in colder weather is nice.
simple and thin roti of brown wheat flour is better that white flour nan.
boiled rice are better than pilao.
so on and so forth.

have a milkshake for sehri and add whey protein to it ( the types who want to lose weight) I was told some people lost weight in ramazan drinking protien milkshakes for sehri and of course having healthy controlled portions of food for iftari.

Don't just eat a bagel by itself...add some protein..fiber...healthy fat to it. It will keep you full longer. Try eating whole grain/wheat.
There is no iftari at my house...just eat a normal dinner after namaz and walk for 20 minutes afterwards.
Last Ramadan I lost 11 pounds just skipping Iftari for the first time.
What good am I if i can't be me.
