Worried

Well, when we had our housewarming, we started it at around 4pm with lots of guests, invoted for Khatam (of Ya'sin sharif), and we served tea and snacks. Then some of these people were invited for dinner (close family) so they stayed and we had a big dinner party.

Hope that helps?

Do you have pets? They provided the entertainment at OUR housewarming.

We have a big chowchow mix, he looks like a lion. And a yellow lab girlie. I and hubby greeted all the guests, got them settled and chatting around the living room then we went into the kitchen to finish preparations on our big feast. We noticed that all of a sudden the conversation had stopped, there was silence in there. We went out to see what happened....and there, in the middle of the room was

Chowchow humping away the girly lab.

O.M.G. I wished and prayed that the floor would open up and swallow me.

Sorry ^ that wasnt very helpful was it?

Its really just nice to make some great food, get everyone together and enjoy hanging out in your new home. Show everyone around etc. Its always seemed to me that if there are more people, the chance of sitting down to watch TV are less. When we have lots of guests, we do our favorite and best cooking and get the rest take-out - like some great desi foods from local restaurant and then some deli foods and salads. Makes things much easier and nicer.

I never liked playing games or organized activities at parties but thats just me. If the weather is nice you could try badminton or croquet in your yard. Those are always fun and popular. If you live in winter country tho, choices are pathetic - unless theres a good snow in which case you could have a snowman/woman building contest.

I agree, do like a Quran Khani and then have snacks or even a simple lunch/dinner after.

We had housewarming in two programs. First one was a simple gathering to do Quran Khwani, and it included appetizers and then dinner.
Two weeks later we had a bigger party to include appetizers for an hour while guests were settling, a big feast with all food catered and a live musical program. I think everybody enjoyed the program that covered classical to modern songs. We took a break for tea and deserts in the middle of the musical program.
We had set a room for kids to play them video games and/or watch TV. So kids were enjoying themselves and were not running around to disturb the musical program.
