in a big cup, squeeze in two cut lemons in water. microwave for 5 minutes and then dont open the microwave door. it willl gather steam.
clean then with a moist paper towel.

Better yet, take your food to neighbors house and heat it there. No mess, no smell, no electricty bill

I hope you all cover your food before microwaving it. It is better for the food (food won't get hard from the top or the top layer won't dry out) and the microwave (less mess to clean up)

cover the food before putting it in the microwave and you'll hardly ever have a mess in there...
But if it ever happens, then dushwari's remedy is the best thing to do...
i heat a cup of water in the microwave and leave it in there with the door closed for a while...and then wipe it off with a paper towel...and its sparkling clean...

I love to get those kind of tips, thanx Dushwari.
My mom is great for those things too. Some things she REALLY helped with:
Our big bathroom (the one with the tub and shower) has awful ventilation so it grows mold like CRAZY. I used to bleach it and scrub with a toothbrush - lots of bleach mixed with really hot water - thinking what could be stronger than that? It never got the bath sparkly and I always thought that it was the best that could be done till we could afford to have the bathroom remodeled. Mom got me this stuff called "tilex" and O.M.G. my bathroom is so sparkly that we dont have to remodel till we're ready and have the funds.
Then she went on to our kitchen. When you have anything that goes in toaster oven or regular oven and it gets those baked-on stains, just empty half a litre of ammonia into a garbage bag, place the racks and/or pans into the bag and seal it. Let it sit overnite and the next morning just wash it with dish soap. It will be as sparkly clean as the day you bought it.
Thank goodness for moms!!

Mama, thanks for the nice tips. I gotta try the tilex one. I Have got the rubber type tape around our bath tub getting all black and nothing i am doing is cleaning it up.
Can i please share this tip taht i found online somewhere and works like a charm for me? SOmetimes when the chai spills over the stove and i dont clean it up instantly, it builds up and is really hard to remove esp if i use the stove again without cleaning it. So make a paste of baking soda with water and apply to the stain. THen i add some vinegar and that initiates a reaction of the soda and vinegar. I let it sit for a while and then use steel wool to clean up. Also, hub's thermos that he takes chai to work in, stinks no matter how much i clean it. So i do the same trick on the thermos and it doesnt stink anymore. Yayyy!
