under 20 minz for desi food? use a pressure cooker
works wonders when time is limited. you can cook daals in 10 minz or less
if you have everything prepared and ready.....you can also cook salans in there in under 30minz.

U need pressure cooker to cook the meat faster......specially beef or mutton
I cannot imagine cooking beef on a pot waiting for 45 mins to an hour
Most desi food do have beef or mutton in them and hence you need the pressure cooker.....unless u are making fish or chicken

Already cooked and frozen complete meals in the freezer section of your fridge . Desi khana gets more marinated and more tasteful the older it gets , so do not worry about it loosing its taste.
The Nihari , biryani , poolao , pa ya, palak ghost etc taste great if you take them out of the freezer even after months of being there.
Ask any Pakistani who has taste for these kind of foods.
That comes in handy in emergency situations. No seriously.

It means you cannot cook them , chaloo koi baat nahi.
You can get them from any desi restuarant if you live in any desi paradise of US or UK.

Here's a couple of quick ones:
Boneless chicken cut into thin strips (say 1lb)
One large onion finely slices
2-3 medium tomatoes chopped
1 Green pepper (capsicum) finely sliced
salt, red chilli powder
cilantro (dhaniya leaves)2-3 cloves of garlic (smashed roughly)
Fry chicken pieces & garlic in 3-4 Tablespoons of oil
Chicken may release water, so cook until water dries up and color has changed
Add onions, stir fry for a few mins
Add tomatoes, salt and chili powder
Stir until for a few more minutes, until chicken is tender.
Add green peppers, stir fry for a min
Garnish with cilantro.
Ta da!
Tastes yummy with plain boiled rice.
Potatoes 3 Cook in microwave (6-7 minutes) until done
Peel and cut up into a few pieces
In hot oil, add 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp cumin (zeera), add potatoes, curry patta (if available), dry red chillies (4-5), salt, lal mirch, dhaniya powder. Stir fry for a few mins, garnish with cilantro.
Happiness often sneaks in through a door you didn't know you left open...

lasagna rolls:
lasagna strips (boil and cook em. keep em al dente)
pasta sauce
ricotta cheese
1 egg beaten
mozzarella cheese
parmesan cheese
in a baking dish, spread a thin layer of the pasta sauce. then lay strips of lasagna on top, in 1 layer. mix together the ricotta cheese and the egg together. then spoon some of the mixture on top of the lasagna, not too much though, and spread it. sprinkle some mozerella cheese on top. then roll the lasagna. sprinkle a little bit of the parmesan cheese, and bake it until the parmesan cheese turns golden brown. serve

yep ....sheyn thats why^^
and sheyn....desi food almost always takes over 20 minz to cook. the prep time plus the frying of the onions can take 15-20 minz alone. Unless of course you do all the prep work the day before.
khumar lasgana rolls and macroni keema is not desi food
