I need the recipe for a yummy authentic butter chicken.. For NY/NJ ppl I consider Shahnawaz's butter chicken authentic so I need a recipe similar to that one.
I need it for tonite's dinner so quick replies are appreciated!!

Here what I do but since I am true desan, I don't know the exact measurment for ingredients.
Ingredients:
Oil- 2tbsp
Salt-1/2 tsp
Mirch-1tsp
Haldi-1tsp
Dhania powder-1/2tsp
Heay cream-1qt
Tomato sauce-1can(16oz)
Chicken: 1kg or 2 pounds in small cubes
Butter: 1 stick
ginger/garlic paste-1tsp
sugar-1tbsp or according to you taste
First take the chickem cubes and oil. Put it in a pan and let the water dry. Then bonify it little.
Then take butter stick when it melts, add garlic and ginger paste. cook it for few minutes.
add tomato sauce, salt, mirch, haldi and dhania powder. Cook it until you can see the butter coming up.
add heavy cream, taste it, if it tastes ok then add chicken cubes.
cook it for few minutes and then add sugar.
Cook for couple of minutes, add sookhi methi and leave it on low heat for 15 minutes.
I am at work so don't remember the exact measurement of everything but I make it this way and so far everyone liked it.

Thanks everyone.. in fact i mixed and matched couple of recipes (Raima's and njaveed) and it turned out just perfect.. it was even better than the shahnawaz's/ Shalimar's butter chicken.
hsap: I used unsalted butter.. is that what you are asking for?

I've had butter chicken at a resturaunt here in DC and it tasted sweet. Im sure I've had it at parties where it wasn't sweet, actually I'm not sure if it was butter chicken or chicken karahi. Does butter chicken have to be sweet.

I made butter chicken last week using a similiar recipe to Raima's and it turned out pretty good. It was easy and pretty yummy at the same time.
