What kind of milk do you normally use for kheers, custards, puddings, etc? I love the half and half but my mom prefers regular milk. I heard that even adding condensed milk gives a nice taste to kheers? I wanna try that.

The first time I made kheer, I used half and half and it was good... The second time I made kheer, I used regular milk and added condensed milk & evaporated milk to it... It turned out even better!

I just remembered a funny, yet nauseating story. We went to someone's house for dinner, and there was kheer for dessert which tasted really good. Upon complimenting it, we were told that she'd used unsalted butter to add to the creaminess. I thought..ooh that's a good trick, thinking she must've used a teaspoon or two. Turns out she'd used the WHOLE TUB of butter!! I don't remember how I finished the last few spoonfuls of kheer without throwing up. It tasted good, but just knowing how much butter was in it was just sickening! God knows how many calories were in it, and how many arteries were clogged.
Anyway, for normal desserts, I just use whole milk. For ras malai, I use table cream and whole milk.

Depends... for kheer my mom use whole milk, half n half, and condensed milk. Our kheer always turns out amazing. For custard and puddings, we mostly use whole milk, if we have any half n half on hand then we would use that otherwise just whole milk.
May Allah bring peace in Pakistan. Ameen

I really don't like the taste of kheer with condensded milk, it changes the flavour. We use whole milk, and sometimes add some khoya
