Hi all,
Here are the photos from the Eid Party and Surprise dholki we did for my cousin. I wasn't sure where to post these, but I did want to share with you folks here, as you were the main sources of inspiration.
Thank you, as always!
Some shots of the main room and the "stage" that hubby and I created:
*edited*
Sweets to feed the dulhan:
Appetizers:
- Tropical punch
- Crackers, cucumber, and pepperjack cheese
- Baked brie
Lunch:
- Roast garnished with parsley
- Potatoes baked and topped with garlic sour cream and tomato sauce
- Diced salad
- Pastitsio
- Chicken salan (ammi's creation)
- Rice/aloo (ammi's creation)
- Eggplant raita (MIL's creation)
- Another salad (cousin's creation)
- Dahi bare (mumani's creation)
Dessert:
- Truffles (from SGC's recipe) -- Four flavors: walnut, raspberry (most popular), dark coffee (pretty intense), milk chocolate
- Coconut ladoos (adapted from Gina's recipe)
- Creamy flan (adapted from a recipe from a Spanish tapas place)
- Fruit salad
- Nankhatai (spelling? -- MIL's creation)
- kheer (chacha brought it)

Everyone really enjoyed the afternoon -- food and entertainment. Very enjoyable

Omg all that stuff looks soooo yummy! Good job with the decorations too... it has such a cozy feel to it
Sorry to get off track here but shay did you watched DH tonight? I kinda sorta missed the last one and I was wondering what happened to Mike and whatserface? Teri Hatcher... her name escapes me now.. doh!

Good stuff Sahar, thanks for sharing. Its funny, we also had a dholki party for my sister this past weekend. We couldnt do real food since ammi and sis are leaving for Pak today (2 days later) so we just had some dry fruit as snacks adn pizza and chicken sandwiches. It was still fun.
I love children and old people. Its everyone in between I can't stand - Don Imus

Thanks, everyone. I really had a great time (especially because MIL and mom did a lot of the cleaning up).
